Post by Beiruty »

I am not a noobie, however, many would ask do you clean your firearms after each shooting or do you do it
1) After each shooting.
2) Once each month,
3) Once each Qrter,
4) Once each year,
5) or never!

I am in the first category.

I tend to do it after every shooting but sometimes I miss a couple of times particularly with my regular practice pistol.

It may take a day or two but I generally try to clean my guns after every use.

I consider my firearms as tools so I maintain them as such, cleaned and lubricated after each use before being put away. I also wash my lawnmower so maybe I am a bit fanatical on maintaining my things....

i typically clean after each range session. Once a month, i will check all of them to make sure that enough lube is present and run a wipe down the barrel to get any lint, dust, etc out of there from carrying. Im sure its overkill but oh well.

I like handling my guns and I always want them to go bang with each trigger pull, so I clean after each outing.

Besides, my wife says being surrounded by a bunch of guns parts makes me look like a real he-man. ;-)

I've been cleaning after every other trip to the range which works out to once or twice a month. So about every 200 rounds or so.

If you have a 1911, you must clean it after eash use, then polish it to make it pretty and put a good coat of pledge on your wood grips.

If you have a Glock, it only needs to be cleaned if it is dropped in the mud, but never after shooting.

Kidding aside, I clean any gun I shoot within a day or so of using it.

After every shooting; sometimes more depending on lengths between range trips.

I clean after shooting and if i don't shoot a particular weapon system I will clean it monthly. Like my shotgun, AR and AK or other random handguns i have around the house I don't get them out to the range every weekend and it might be a while before I do, so I clean them monthly or every other month just depends, i inspect them each month. Usually not all in one siting though, I can clean my AK and AR together but not the shotgun. The other handguns I clean a few at a time, revolvers and automatics on different days. One day I hope I just get the point I am cleaning a gun everyday.. hahaha
