Opinion of Glock 26

Pros:

• It's small and concealable
• It's not a .380

Cons:

• It's not a 1911
• It is a Glock

Hey, just kidding. My wife carries a G19, which I guess is one size up from the 26, and it is a very reliable pistol. Oogly, but reliable.

Yup, like other glocks, feels like your holding a brick. I don't mind my .380, as I feel well placed shots can do the job... but rather have a little bigger and a little more (capacity). Actually, I really like the Taurus 24/7 Pro Compact, but is a tad heavy. it's as short as the glock, but heavier.... but holds more rounds too.

Its a great pistol! I rotate my Glock G30 and G26 for concealed carry. Reliable, lightweight, accurate, simple platform, easy to conceal (IWB and OWB) and its a glock. Lots of upgrades/mods available. Plus if you have a g19 or g17, you can carry one of those mags as a backup. Looks wise, well beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally like the look of glocks, but only you can determine if looks matter for a ccw.

The only thing that kept me from choosing a G26 as a potential concealed pistol was the size. I have fairly big hands, and the only way I can comfortably shoot it is with a G19 magazine and a grip extender. The normal +2 plates which let you get another finger on the bottom doesn't provide enough support for the palm of my hand. At that rate, I myself would just carry a G19. If it fit, I'd probably be carrying one at least part of the time.

...I've held the 26, fired the 17 and the 19...I didn't like the 26...not enough to hold onto for my hand...loved the way the 17 and 19 handled and shot...and believe if I were going to buy one, would go with the 19 as the best compromise between concealability and controllability...

I'd have to agree. My wife's G19 has about as short a grip as I'd want for a double stack 9mm with that kind of capacity. And by the way, I really do kid about the Glock vs 1911 thing. I think that 1911s are much prettier and I love how flat and easy they are to conceal, but I have to admire the form of a gun that is all about function and nothing else. I don't think that Glocks are perfect, but they are good solid reliable guns, and you could do a whole lot worse. I just can't carry one because I have somewhat fleshy hands, and the overhang above the backstrap isn't quite long enough to keep the area between my thumb and index finger from getting bit by the slide - even on my wife's G19. I imagine that it would be worse on a gun with an even shorter grip. All my 1911s have a beavertail grip safety, and my M&P has enough of that overhang above the backstrap to protect my hand.

I carry my 26 everywhere, usually (daily) with 20 in the magazine and one in the spout.

I put an extended ported barrel on it, an internal laser and Advantage Tactical sights.

I use Pearce +3 magazine base plates which give a little finger grip and add 3 rounds to capacity

Glock 17 mag, +3 base plate + 17->26 mag "spacer"

If I'm in a swimsuit, I only carry the 13 round mag (10+3 base plate)

Sometimes the 15 round Glock 19 mag with a 19->26 spacer

I also own a 19, but the 26 is better for carrying, more adaptable, you want a longer barrel like a 19? I added an extended barrel, but the fat slide is still shorter than the 19 so I can sit down easier.


not enough grip on a 26? use a 17 or 20 round (17+3 with PG-39 base plate) mag and a mag spacer or a Glock 19 mag and a spacer
or a Glock 26 -10 round mag and replace the baseplate with a Pearce PG-39 base plate so you have a 13 round mag and a pinky finger rest (this is great for ultra-concealment)

if it fits in your hands well go for it, I actually picked my weapon because it was a bit heavier, liked the feel of it

I'm planning on adding a extended beavertail to my 23 for added control. Not the "Glocktail" Crossfire linked but similar to that.

Certainly has a proven track record. 9mm is an adequate cartridge. I just don't like that "patented" Glock grip angle. I always end up having to adjust my sights down where the 1911 has a much more natural angle for me. Some people don't like have any external safties. YMMV.

Can't say it would be a bad choice, but it wouldn't be mine. I'm sure if it fits you well and your comfortable with it, then it will do what it needs to whenever its called upon.
