Overrated...

Post by dallas_drummer »

Alright, I just got home from a awesome day out at the garland range. Got to shoot some clay and several pistols. My new XD got most of my time as it was the first time to shoot it. I gotta admitt, I've been a glock fan for a long time and after shooting the XD I can't say I even care for my glock 19 much. I was lucky to also shoot several other guns that people had out there as well. The XD .40 cal was awesome too. The Taurus .357 mag revolver I shot was sweet too.

Anyway, I'm now thinking my glock is totally overrated and might go see about trading in and getting a XD .40 cal. What do ya think?

I don't know if the Glock is overrated, but if you prefer the XD, it is better for you.

BIG +1 on that. Go with what you are comfortable with and like.

**disclaimer** - I am partial to the XD's myself. ;-)

Dude, if the XD is the gun for you, go for it. I've shot and handled several dozen XD's in training since they came out. While I think they are OK, I'm not overly excited by them. I'd probably still buy a Glock 19 if I were looking today. YMMV
When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.

For me it was the grip angle. I just prefered the XD for feel. Mine has been great but I'm sure that Glocks are good also. I have the XD 40 subcompact.

Just remember the Third Law of Gun Ownership: never subtract from your collection. So...buy the XD, and keep the Glock.

I have the XD-45 and as others have said, it feels right in my hand plus it shoots really well.

I say trade the Glock if you honestly don't like it anymore. But remember, there is no other handgun that has withstood the torture like Glock.

However, when you need your gun, you will rely on instinct only, and if the XD is more instinctual in your hand, then go for it.

However, I'd make sure it is not just the excitement of a new gun too!!

Personally, I wouldn't trade my G17 for a shoulder fired rocket, or anything else for that matter. It has over 2000 rounds through it without one single jam or mis-feed. It always goes boom. And I haven't cleaned it in well over 700 rounds.

A lot of people report that an XD points more naturally for them than others they have fired. I guess I need to go grope one up
