Ten Ring Challenges ATF
If this is in the wrong place please move it accordingly. This was the best fit I could find. I'd also like to see if we can generate some discussion on the ATF ruling. Personally I am a bit mixed on the subject but will also admit that I may not be 100% clear on the entire ruling or fully understand some of the objections either.
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- A San Antonio gun shop is suing over a federal requirement that weapons dealers in four border states must report multiple sales of semi-automatic rifles.
The new requirement, ordered last month by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, follows a 2009 law enforcement operation in Arizona known as "Fast and Furious" that's been criticized for letting high-powered weapons flow into Mexico.
The San Antonio Express-News reports the store, 10-Ring Precision Inc., claims the new requirement goes beyond ATF's authority.
An ATF spokesman says the bureau has the authority and will defend its ability to collect the sales information from gun dealers in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona and California.
Other gun store owners in Arizona and New Mexico have also sued ATF over the new requirement.

Re: Ten Ring Challenges ATF
I think the biggest problem I have with it is the fact that it is onlt being required for these four border states. Good for 10 Ring for sticking up for something they believe in.

Hey, that's profiling...and profiling is wrong.
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... (Jefferson quoting Beccaria)
... tyrants accomplish their purposes ...by disarming the people, and making it an offense to keep arms. - Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, 1840

I dont think they should be allowed to do this for just certain states. I dont agree with it at all but the fact the pick out the states they want makes it worse. The AFT was the croked ones in the F&F scandle and now they want to try and use it against us. I dont buy multiple rifles at a time but still think its not there place to have my info if I chose too.
Re: Ten Ring Challenges ATF
I am in agreement with the firearms dealers and have no respect for the BATFE. However, who will stop them from doing whatever they want to do? The In-Justice Department is run by Eric Holder. He is a notorious anti-Second Amendment ideologue and is also anti-self defense. He controls the Federal law enforcement agencies. Those agents will, by and large, do whatever they are told to do as part of their "duties". If they do not get the data they seek, they will likely revoke the FFL that the establishment is operating under. If the establishment continues to do business, the ATFE will raid the place, arrest people, confiscate their stock and equipment, and prosecute. And the Holder bunch will be far more than happy to come up with whatever they want to make the charges "stick" and put those folks behind bars with Federal felony convictions. Now, can ANYONE on here please explain to me how that is not tyranny? Just because they do a sham trial does NOT make it proper due process...but these same sorts of tactics were continuously used during the Clinton regime...maybe I'm over-reacting, and I hope I actually am...but I bet I'm not all that far off the mark. And there is NOTHING anyone will do about it, even if this administration goes out on its ear next year, the folks who get dealt dirty by this administration will not see their records cleaned nor be reimbursed for their troubles...and no on in the current administration will EVER see any trouble of their own due to these sorts of actions.

The Govt has one up on the people, we are so self absorbed in our own lives and issues we don't have time or energy to stand together to fight with them. It would take a major event (like 9-11) to get most of the people mad enough to come together and stand against the Govt. We are dieing the death of 1000 little cuts.

Do you guys know what the status of this is? I haven't found any information that I'm confident in.

Ten-Ring Precision is Alex Hamilton, long time gunsmith, gunwriter, even produced flintlock 1911s when he was into muzzle loading competitionbnc wrote:Do you guys know what the status of this is? I haven't found any information that I'm confident in.

So I called him just now and asked him what's shaking with his lawsuit. He said there will be a hearing on 22 December in San Antonio. The BATFE is trying to move the venue from San Antonio to Washington DC, where there are four (I think he said) other similar lawsuits. I know the NRA and the NSSF filed lawsuits, I don't know who the others are.
