Pulled the trigger on a P938

#1

Post by SATX-Scrub »

I'm on gunbroker and this guy has a buy it now for a P938 Nightmare for $639 shipped free, so I click on his website and he also has the Extreme for $639 shipped free. How could I possibly say no??? Even with the FFL and my gas to get to him, I've got enough left for 4 boxes of WWB and a box of Federal Hydros before its even close to Academy's price!!!

So, basically, besides being excited about my new purchase, does anyone have one and what holster works best for you? I've had good luck with Crossbreed IWB but have never tried their minituck. Any help appreciated.

I may also have to reduce the size of my inventory soon, if anyone is interested in a P290 laser it may need to go to make room!

ps...yes, I'll post pics and a full range report!

I've been trying to get my hands on a 938 just to look at it. I'm an owner of a P238, and know it's very similar as far as size and functionality. What range do you take it to here in San Antonio?

Me either, had to go look it up. Looks like a nice gun, I'm interested in the range report for sure.

Just became a Sig owner today myself, though its the "budget" Sig. Got a SP2022 in 9mm, going to take it out to the range tomorrow. I'm excited about it.

IMO, the CB mini would be too small for the P938, and the CBST too large. For my Walther PPS, I ordered a CBST and an equivalent from White Hat holsters in DFW. Keep in mind I LOVE my CBST for the full size M&P.

I wound up keeping the White Hat for the Walther, and sending back the CBST. The White Hat uses thinner leather, and perhaps a slightly smaller leather 'footprint' that worked better w. the smaller size pistol.

Dimension wise it is wider than the 238. The mini-tuk should work well. I have a pjholster for mine and they work great. The usual Remora can hide it in a pocket(ymmv). As for ammo you may want to shoot 124 Nato to loosen it up. Mine has been a little picky but is getting better.

Sig lists the width of the 938 and the 238 as the same 1.1" Are the Sig specs incorrect?

Tried it in a 238 holster and did not fit. Calipers say its 7/8ths of inch wide.

Is that measured at the widest point (grips?) Also Sig specs shows it's .4" longer than the 238 (5.9" vs.5.5")

7/8ths on slide near ejection port. Tried in two different 238 holsters at a gun show with no success.

Ok, so I ordered one just like this last night from "Holsters by RGrizzle". It was too beautiful to pass up, but a 10 week waiting period will pass slowly!

The P938 shipped today and apparently they've got lots at that price. It was an added bonus that they picked up 2-day UPS as well, so I'll have it on Friday or Saturday.

To answer a couple of questions, I use Bass Pro Shop's annual membership, I live right by it and its inexpensive. Its air conditioned and lets face it, who doesn't like wandering aimlessly around Bass Pro?

Anyway, http://gunbuyer.com/ has the P938 in stock for $639 shipped free.

First range report on Saturday or Sunday!

Saw one in the display case at Mike Smith Enterprises in Port Arthur for $649. About the same size as a LC9, but for more $.

I wonder if it's the ambi-safety that makes it a problem. The 238 doesn't have one, but the 938 does.

Great looking holster but you might want to make sure they are using a 938 for molding the holster. The guys I talked to said it was to tight to try and stretch out. the listed width is probably the grip width but it is slide width that keeps them incompatible. Great little pistol and as such my wife is eyeing it, so be warned. :biggrinjester:

Ryan (Mr. Grizzle) has a 938 plastic in his possession. Problem is, he advertised that fact on SigForum and sales exploded. Thats why I've got to wait 10 weeks! His work is second to none, I highly recommend him for custom work or just fine high end holsters.
