Midway USA and Botach Tactical

#1

Post by 1s1k52 »

I have read a few bad things about MidwayUSA and never understand it. No matter how much I add to a cart the shipping typically stays under 20 bucks AND arrives in less than 5 days PERFECTLY packaged. The one time I did have to call their CS on one of my orders I couldn't believe how fast and easy it was.

Botach on the other hand. Waited 3 days AFTER I ordered to tell me some things were out of stock and I received the items about a week and a half later. Free shipping and no tax is great, but I could spent the extra 10-20 or so dollars difference and got it through Midway. Even that could have been tolerable to a point if their customer service was easily reached. 3 days of off and on 15 minute hold times just to be told to leave a message that wasn't returned. Finally I sat at home and just waited for someone to answer online 1.5 wait for that.

I may try Botach again but not if I need something sometime that year. All the more reason Midway should beef up their inventory AND selection. It seems to be going to opposite way from what I see.

I am a big fan of MidwayUSA. I totally believe Larry Potterfield is being genuine when he says "thanks for your business". They run their business as if everything they do they value their customer.

I also like the fact that MidwayUSA has supported the NRA-ILA with millions of dollars. I always use the "NRA Round-up".

I have only used Botach once, but had really good luck with them and got a good price. I think they may be similar to a lot of companies that list an item for sale, but when you order it ships direct from the supplier, not Botach; they are just a middle-man processor.

Midway on the other hand does have their own inventory and ships from their own warehouse. I have seen their location. They are in located the same town where my kid goes to college.

Actually the lady from Botach said they use their own inventory and get it straight from Magpul at which time she informed magpul takes awhile. I remember about a year ago MidwayUSA carried a lot more for CC. I think most of the items were doing enough selling by themselves? I don't know. Their pistol belt selection is HALF what it was.

The funniest thing about both orders is my "handicapped NOT handicapable" self didn't order the follower with the OEM plus 2 pinky extension :(

I love Midway. They know how to run a business, and Larry is a nice, genuine, appreciative guy.

Great write up on Midway in INC. http://www.inc.com/magazine/201202/we-w ... erica.html
Larry Potterfield, founder of the shooting-supply company MidwayUSA, is obsessed with management excellence: quantifying it, developing systems to produce it, and spreading it far and wide.
I have never used Botach. I will usually exclusively use Midway, even if it's a few dollars more. :tiphat:

I've had good experience with Midway, but I also like Brownell's. But I've easily spent $1,000 at Midway over the past 5 years. I agree with Andy about the disproportionate freight charges to send one small backordered part, but other than that they're pretty good.

I guess I'll be the outlier then. Tried to order 3 Midway rifle bags for a total of about $110 one time, however when it came to shipping options, the cheapest was almost $40 on about 4.5 lbs. I've ordered from Midway many times in the past and been very pleased with their products and services, but I've always hated their shipping prices. I'm becoming more convinced that their shipping costs are actually a profit center for them.

I have never had a problem with botach (10 orders now), I know lots have though. One my last order 2 weeks ago I was able to get my five seven mags from them for 24 bucks shipped and they were oem mags. In town wanted 82 and the other store 63. I will probably continue to order from them since I use my credit card I figure if something happens I can just contest the charge and no sweat of my back.

Midwayusa has been good to me but there's a place with a similar name which had slow shipping, I ordered from accidentally once, midwest or something, took a couple months on an item supposedly in stock, I cancelled the order ,,, but Midwayusa always is fast and great on everything I get there, and I use them more than anyplace else.

Not making excuses, but I've done a ton of shipping stuff over the years, and a lot of times weight can have less effect on price than the dimensions of the package(s). A very light but large and awkward-sized box can cost as much to ship as a much heavier box.

If buying anything from Botach, verify that they have it in stock using their live help. I haven't had any issues with about 10 orders now

I've used botach several times and never had any issues, always got my products fast.

I've used midway too, I don't like their high shipping rates but the turnaround on shipping is always really fast. Now if i could just get them to stop sending me the stupid mailers all the time. I always decline it then somehow it gets turned back on to accept mailers and catalog's
