N Frame as CCW

I have a 5" N Frame. I wouldn't dream of carrying it except as a hunting weapon in an appropriate hunting holster.

I wear a vest to conceal, having said that I use to carry a custom 3" 629 S&W for years. It was carried in a jit slide and a shoulder rig. I never tried to carry iwb just owb with the vest, hides very well.

You got me to thinking....I know, that's dangerous.

I have a S&W R8 5" that I use for competition. Due to the alloy frame it wieghs in at 36 ounces as opposed to the stainless 627 at over 44 oz. , so weight wise it would be doable although a bit large/long. I go to looking at S&W website, and if I was gonna carry an N frame I'd go with the 2" titanium cylinder/ alloy frame model

At 21.4 oz it would be very doable.

Now I am thinking I need one.

If you bobbed the hammer and changed the grips to the Miculek grips it would be very concealable, and with 8 rounds of .357...quite a beast.

I would imagine OWB as mentioned would be the best method, and with 2" barrel no shoulder holster required.

If you are recoil shy, the stainless 2.6" looks good at 36 oz.

I actually like the look of it better but 15 ounces is a lot of weight difference.

im really wanting an N frame .357 in 4 inch.

If you want to carry a .357, why would you want an N-frame instead of a K-frame or L-frame? Just curious . . .

Personally, I am a big fan of the K-frame .357's.

I have an N-frame in .44 Mag. I don't want to carry a .44 Mag.

I love my N frames but if I tried to carry one I think it would look like it was carrying me.

I have a 4" Square butt K frame. I've tried to carry it several times but can't get comfortable with it. If I'm going to conceal a K frame, I think I would need a 2.5" round butt.
As it is! I mostly carry a J frame or a Kahr P9.

i have a 340 j frame, im wanting a full size 357. it wouldnt be a daily carry like the my J frame is. ive looked at the 686+ and have debated on them however my buddy has a 686 2.5" i do like, im wanting somethings different 8 rounds.

plus how much easier is a L frame easier than N when you get the spare round?

I can see the appeal of 8 rounds.

The 627 is also so much more expensive than the 686, that you can practically buy a 686 and have enough left over for another j-frame. The extra money isn't worth the 2 rounds to me. However, God Bless America, we are still free to make our own choices without about half of our own money. So if it grabs your interest, go for it.
