When I was staying in New Hampshire the gun laws were easy and shootings were rare (easier in New Hampshire to get a permit to carry equal... to a Texas SA License)
Several shootings a week were the norm down South In Boston Mass (The commonwealth of Mass is Gun Free By Law)
The Gun free sign at the mall in Oregon are an open invite to go on a shooting spree
Gun Laws and Gun Free Zones only protect the Robbers and Hat cases and leave the rest of us vulnerable to them

Would this then make the Mall owners liable. I hope this will be the outcome.

I have been wondering how he shot himself if his gun jammed.

I think I heard that the rifle jammed, then he killed himself with a pistol. But I could be wrong about that. I do remember the report about the rifle getting jammed because I thought to myself that the anti's are going to be disappointed that the body count wouldn't be higher.

Some of the articles said that the rifle jammed but he managed to clear it. Of course we all know how accurate reporting is...

All is not lost (yet). I heard a replay of the police/sherrif press conference on the radio & the spokesperson used the phrase "AR-15 semi-automatic rifle" instead of "assault rifle". It's a small step, but it IS in the right direction.

I heard that too, but then the doctor holding a press conference on the state of the young girl that was shot kept saying she was brought in with an assault weapon or rifle or gun wound.

One of the news articles credited the low casualty count to the overwhelming police response, even though it appears the suspect took his own life before police arrived on scene. It seems to follow the pattern: these guys are done when they feel they have inflicted enough suffering and choose to stop shooting or off themselves before police intervene. Thoughts?

From what i have seen, it is not that they think they have injured enough, but that they they think they will be captured and tried. In most cases, they only kill themselves while fighting with the police or barricaded from them.

In the instant case, the reports I read mentioned that he started to run and hide as the sirens became audible inside. This would indicate he killed himself when he thought he would be captured.

Nope - won't happen. Business can't be liable if someone comes in and breaks the law, which the shooter obviously did.

Well, for more bad news, there is now being reported a shooting in an elementary school in Conneticut.

This will really set a fire under the gun control liberals.

Where did you hear it was a gun free zone. I can't find any confirmation of that.

The Oregon Mall shooter stopped and killed himself right after a licensed concealed carry pointed his gun at him. The mainstream media did not pick this up. Wonder why? Read the comments posted at the bottom of the story and it looks like the CHLer's intervention is the reason the guy decided it was time to end things. Apparently, the mainstream media would like to keep it under wraps.

That's a nice story and all, but there is no real evidence that can tell us why the shooter decided to kill himself when he did.

I am hearing stories from young friends that there is something more interesting about the shooter here. He was not like the shooter in CT, but popular and well adjusted with many friends. He had tried to join the Marines this was his first love, but was not approved due to a foot injury. His second dream was living in Hawaii, so he was in the process of moving there, when he apparently suddenly decided to do this. His friends and coworkers are shocked. He apparently was a model employee, everyone liked him. Not the normal mass shooter we have gotten used to reading about.

I will research further.

Was the Mall posted for no CHL? Does anyone know for sure?
