Today I ran to Walmart to grab some firewood so I could teach my in-laws to use the fireplace--they have never owned a house with a fireplace since they are from the Philippines. Anyway, I passed by the ammo section to see what their prices were like, and I found this little gem. Thought i'd post it so y'all could enjoy it.

So, I ask the guy at the ammo counter (shocker, by the way... I can never find anyone at the ammo counter back home) and asked him..
Me: "So... no ammo sales because of the holidays? I don't get it."
Him: "Yeah, people shoot their guns in the air to celebrate on New Years and Christmas..."
Me: "What?"
Him: "Yeah, listen tonight... you will hear all kinds of popping and explosions from people shooting their guns in the air."
Me: "Has it occured to you that those may be fireworks?"
Him: "No.. so California passed a law a few years back that prevents us selling ammo during this time."
Me: "So if they have passed the law, and it's been in effect for a few years, why are you still hearing gunshots on New Years?"
Him: "Because they ignore the law"
Mrs. Snatchel: (while smiling) "I see what you did there, Snatchel"
Him: "What are you talking about?"
I left. I was hoping my subtle lesson would have an impact on him--apparently it went over his head. Anyway. I'm here till the 2nd, and i'll be glad to be driving back to Texas.
