If you like the price you can buy. If you don't like the price you don't have to buy. You have the choice to say no and so does the seller. There's no ObamaGuns law forcing you to pay a fine, I mean tax, if you don't buy enough guns and ammunition each year.Carry-a-Kimber wrote:Items won't sell at twice their value, they will sell at what the market will bear, aka market value.Salty1 wrote:Can we add some of the prices in our classified section to the price gougers? How about a plug for the good guys. I ordered some 223 from MidwayUSA on sale and they were out of stock and backordered. Rather than cancelling the order they honored the price when stock came in and shipped at the sale price. Deal with the good guys, support them with your dollars.

I bet they go higher. Much higher! I have a brand new in the box mint condition Chinese milled AK47 ... Pre ban 1986 manufacture. Not one of these garbage kit guns from CAI. A guy offered me 3500.00 for it and I turned him down. This thing has three of the chrome follower mags with it in plastic... Never opened. Spike bayonet.. In plastic. Original factory box! No way I turn loose of it for 3500. Does this make me a gouger too?

No!
If you can get $35,000.00 for it or more, great.
Some of our more, shall we say, ardent criers of foul, pretend to be capitalists, until they consider the cost coming out of their wallets and then voila', they're socialists...
All costs should be the same for everyone and that cost should very: Low

Re: List price gougers here
Were they actually selling or just offered for sale? Hit the Sherman and Choctaw shows this weekend. All the ARs you wanted for $1800 and up and all the 5.56 ammo you wanted at $1 a round. Spent half a day at each and didn't see one AR sold. Lots of walkers trying to cash in, no buyers. Ran the pawn shops in Durant and scored a scoped Marlin .22 and a Hipoint 995, 9mm for $350 total out the door. Saw one Hipoint 995 at the show for the asking price of $550 and a KelTec Sub 2000 at $769. Bought a bag of jerky at the gun shows. The free market will adjust itself.liberty2014 wrote:Sig ar were selling for 2499 at the austin show. Pmags $50 and the largr box of feder 22lr ammo was being sold at $249.99

Re: List price gougers here
I spent a few hours there and didnt see anybody buy an ar, people were buying ammo though. I asked a guy at the alamo ammo booth why they raised the prices so much and he said its not them, but its the ammo companies raising their price. I then asked why academy, wal mart, and cabeals raise their ammo prices and he just quit talking.

Re: List price gougers here
Are they trying to put themselves out of business? I know a lot of non-gun people and new gun owners are throwing money at this stuff right now, but it won't be long before those same people lose interest, or sell of all their stuff and move on. Guns are a fad right now. In the end, it will be the regular gun types who will still be spending money on guns and ammo once this all blows over. And anyone care to guess where they will not be spending it?

I think most people are just venting and using "gouging" when they really mean "profiteering." Besides, is it really a "free market" when the government is creating demand by threatening supply?03Lightningrocks wrote:... And refuse to acknowledge the right of free enterprise...
