SR 1911 Disappointed

Most will require a break in period. I had 100 rounds thru my Colt before it stopped misfeeding. May also be the ammo. The tighter the gun the more finiky (sp) they are to ammo. But as others have said, the magizines are the usual culpret. Go with a Wilson or Chip McCormack.

Yes. I doubt the ammo is the problem but it might contribute to the issue.

I had a neighbor ask me about his 1911 FTF (feed). I felt around and noticed his feed ramp had a very sharp edge and maybe burring I couldn't see it without my magnifying visor but it felt like it). I stripped it down and used a very fine rat tail I have in my gun kit. Just enough work to polish that leading edge and he has not had a problem since. Maybe 200 rounds through it since I did the work. I have seen this problem on other new weapons, not prevalent but not uncommon either.

Just one more thing to consider.

DocV sent me a new spring and after not being able to find ammo and and then later fighting the flu which later turned into bronchitis, I finally made it out to the range. It appears to have fixed me up. No hiccups, not a one. Thanks DocV.

Glad it helped! My 1911's remind me of when a certain someone was about 5 years old. She would be perfect and then act up at the most inopportune time - usually at church. (Mom said "A chip of the old block" but I have no idea what she was taking about.)

I have a SR 1911... using UMC, Remington, Winchester white, and federal 230 ball all ran well with the factory mags... I found using chip mccormick shooting star mags unreliable in the sr1911... I have 6 checkmate 8 rounders that run flawlessly... I reload most of my stuff now.. having used billys bullets 200gr, federal cases and wnichester primers, and bullseye @ 5gr set coal 1.175? now using friendswood cast 230.. same formula...coal @ 1.200

I did have some feed problems early on... every once in a great while as the SR1911 is a pretty "tight" gun .... after about 500 to 1000 rounds.... its runs real well.... I can say that my chamber is on the tight side so if the od of the round is a little large then problems on going into battery have been experienced...but these were issues with overseas ammo, I have had no such problems out of US made ammo....

i',m curious, does anyone elses sr1911 rattle?
Mine has a noticeable rattle i believe in the trigger area. From what I read it's normal as they are made slightly loose.
None of my SA 1911s have the slightest rattle.

One of my favorite 1911s rattles like a 1973 Ford pickup on a dirt road. It is spot on accurate and never misses a beat.

That was another interesting item in the giant book of 1911 information. My SA "GI" Model wouldn't run right with the factory-type 7 rounders...buying Chip McCormick Power 8s fixed the problem for me. Each brand (or maybe individual pistols, for all I know) do seem to have their quirks.
