Great Self Defense Pistol Training
I took a course with instructor Kenan Flasowski of F.A.S.T. Inc (http://www.fast762.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) this past weekend. I spent 6 years in the Army as a combat infantryman and served a tour in the Middle East during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I am familar with firearms but other than Army I have had no formal training. Mr. Flasowski is a retired SGM with over 25 years of service including the Special Forces teams and the Army's highest priority Special Missions Unit. I can not believe the difference that one day of training from this man has made for me. The class called for 400 rounds of ammo. I believe several students could not find enough bullets to attend so it was just myself and one other man. Awesome! We started with marksmanship ability to see where we both were. Then moved on to the training. We did sight picture drills, close quarter shooting drills (from the hip), multiple target engagement, engaging while walking/running, room clearing and engaging targets inside from cover, one handed shooting drills, one handed reload drills, rapid engagement of multiple targets, drawing and shooting at targets while seated at a table (like you were inside a resturant and had no choice), etc. During all of this we constantly worked on trigger control, sight picture and accuracy. There was no "load 5 rounds for this" kind of stuff. We had what was in our mags and if we ran out we had to do reloads on the go and engage another shot after reloading. This was great because it wasn't planned so it was realistic to be shooting and all of a sudden run out of ammo and have to change out mags and get back in the fight. My accuracy improved beyond words by the end of the day. My confidence multiplied more than I expected. The class was $180 for about 8-9 hours of training. I can not stress enough how much of a difference his real world instruction has made toward my shooting ability. If you have a chance, check out his website and take a pistol, carbine or combo class with Kenan and you will be a much better shooter for it. His ability to train anyone and help anyone find their flaws in grip, stance, accuracy or what ever is amazing. It was also great talking about real world scenarios. At the end of the day he made sure we did not leave with any unanswered questions. The class was held at a private range in Chapel Hill, TX just outside of Benham off HWY 290. Just a couple hours east of Austin. Best money I have ever spent on shooting! I plan on taking his night time defensive pistol class as well and hopefully the carbine class in the future. Good luck in all your training and I hope this post helps someone down the road.

Good to know that we have resources like this available. Thanks for the first-hand account of your experience in the class -- sounds like real-world skills. Also, makes me consider that capacity IS important.

Thanks for passing along. I've been thinking of taking something like this but didn't know where to start, now I do!

I believe that his site said he will be busy until this summer. But keep checking because his training was outstanding!
