Welcome
I'm new myself, but I'm here a lot so welcome all.
theholsterstore: You own a gun store. You are my new best friend. I mean it.
NguyenVanDon: Welcome to COWBOY country!
BradGroux: You want to acquire your toys before you get married...you are wise beyond your years!

Hey guys!
I'm not only new to this site, but fairly new to Texas (12 months here).
Name's Kevin and the moniker has nothing to do with military service... just eating a little too much of one particular type of cereal in college...
I'm nearly 28, male, and I work as the Senior Content Creator (read: Video Producer and Editor) for Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall. I've been married for 6 years and the wife and I are expecting our first little one this June (and hence my renewed interest in CHL now that I no longer live in the People's Republik of Illinois). I plan on carrying my Springer 5"1911 in an IWB (as soon as I figure out which one to buy!) with a couple extra mags and my ever trusty Buck pocket knife.
Anyone know a good place to take the CHL course near Rockwall?

Re: Hey guys!
Forum member S&W6946 is in Rockwell, and can probably advise. But he's very busy at the moment, on the road installing new hardware upgrades for his employer, and engaging in some political stuff. He's not where he can keep up with the forum daily, but give him a PM shout, and he will answer when he can.Captain wrote:Anyone know a good place to take the CHL course near Rockwall?

Stick around because we might need another CHL instructor to inform the young people, like myself, about the law of what is right and wrong.

Status: Married, three small boys
Years CHL: none yet, but registered at CHL-Texas this month
Carry guns: still shopping. I have a Colt Commander .45 that's a little heavier than I'd like to carry (42 oz loaded). I'm seriously considering a .40 Glock 23 or 27, but I'm still reading all the opinions on here and elsewhere.

Introducing myself
I'm a new member, but I've been lurking and reading for ~6 months.
I am 29 years old and a full-time seminary student. I am also a part-time teacher at a private school and a part-time commissioned security officer at the seminary. I live in Fort Worth with my beautiful wife. We have 2 daughters and a boy on the way.
I just bought my first handgun at the FW gun show in May. It's a Taurus Millenium Pro .40. I've only been able to put 100 rounds through it so far, but I like it.
I plan on going for the CHL class later this month and am both excited and a little nervous about carrying. Ultimately, though, I have to agree with what many posters on this sight have said, in one form or another: If you don't exercise the right, you don't really have it.
