Brag: My Tax Dollars At Work In A Good Way!

Post by Blindref757 »

The wife and I just got back from the range. Nothing heavy duty...about 50 rounds through my XDS 9 and 60 rounds of AR-15.

The reason this is remarkable is because we shot at our local PD range...with an officer providing instruction, safety, and targets...ALL FOR FREE for local citizens!!! Apparently, they are going to provide this service once or twice a month during the cooler months (weather permitting). I've already sent an email to the mayor thanking them for the service!

I am a suspicious person. So have to wonder, Why would they do this? Did they "Inspect" your weapons? Check out you? etc.... there is a reason they are doing this. I doubt it is for the benefit of the community. Ok off with my soap box an tin foil hat.

Nope...no inspections, didn't have to show ID, just come in and shoot. Didn't even see any cameras...but my wife joked as we were walking up that this was a way for us to be on "the list"!

You will actually find many smaller city police departments that are all for citizens carrying. The pushback on allowing anyone other than the department shoot at the range usually will be shot down by the city's risk management people. They are notorious for killing many programs and functions in the name of liability. :banghead:

I'm a little surprised they didn't ask for ID to show you're local but other than that it doesn't surprise me outside the Yankee enclaves.

I bought it in August and I've fired about 300 rounds through it with no issues related to the recall. I will send my fully functioning gun in after the other 50K people have gotten theirs taken care of. And in the meantime, I'll keep her super clean, pointed downrange when I put it in battery, and if it double-taps the bad guy inadvertently, I'll say a prayer for him.
