Well, now, that does sound like an interesting story.

New member.. I live in Abilene, frequent Austin and sometimes houston to visit family. Currently AD Air Force and about 2 weeks into my "Wait".

Purchashed this for the sole reason to CC and ive always wanted one. I own 2 other mil-surplus russian rifles (you can guess) and a mil-surp Revolver.

I did devalue the gun a tad by filing down some of the sharper edges and front sight post..im sorry :(

Thought I'd start posting in here after taking several days to go through it all. What I find funny (and funny in a way that I found enjoyable) are how the phones have changed over the years. And I've have had a few of them and what comes to mind is the Windows Mobile phone (I think the model was 8525 or 8925 but it was called the Tilt) and the iPhone 3GS.

Currently my favorite EDC gun is the Ruger LCR .357 Magnum I bought last month for my birthday. Didn't include the phone (I'll have to remember that for next time) but shows with what I mostly carry in the pocket. Either one of the reloading options, Spyderco Tenacious, and a Surefire E1B (this is actually my third one after losing the first two; damn this is getting expensive).

Around the house and occasional concealed carry gun. Kimber Custom II.

And some of my Kimber Ultra Carry II's.

No. Why? :smilelol5:

I just keep running into good deals on them. The Custom II I bought for my dad for his birthday. When he no longer had the strength to rack the slide I got it back from him and bought him a Taurus M85 snubbie with a factory port job (forgot to picture that one. Fixed!).

Image

The next one I got was the Ultra Carry II with the CT grips on it. Bought it from a buddy of mine and fell in love with it the first time I held it. Asked him to sell it to me whenever he wanted to get rid of it and I bought it from him probably less than a year later. The second one is the Tactical that I bought from a buddy of mine who lost his job and needed some cash. It was a good deal but has been a headache with some FTE issues. It's the only one I have with the external extractor and I've read they've been problematic and Kimber went back to an internal extractor after it. The third is the Stainless Steel that a buddy of mine at work owned that I bought this month. I've been wanting one in stanless after a camping trip this past summer where I was wearing the Tactical in an IWB Comp-Tac holster with no undershirt. The gun was up against my skin and after a couple of hours of hiking I got back to camp and put it away. Should have wiped it down but I didn't think about it and the next day I had some slight rust on the left side of the slide where it was up against my skin.

So short story long, yes I like Kimbers. They are reasonably cheap and they've been pretty reliable with the exception of the Tactical. I've owned maybe 4 Glocks since the early 90's when I was of age to buy one on my own. I caught the 1911 bug after I bought my dad the Kimber Custom II for his birthday probably about 10 years ago and I inherited it back from him along with his guns when he past away about 2.5 years ago. Besides Glocks I've owned a Springfield Service Model .45 ACP XD with the external safety. Kinda regretted selling it but I sold it to buy my first Ultra Carry. Looking at buying an XDm 3.8 in .45 ACP next and selling a couple of the Ultra Carry's to fund it and buy an AR sometime soon.

The most expensive one I bought was the Ultra Carry II with the CT grips, paid $900 for it. The cheapest was the UC Tactical for... well let's just say I got it real cheap ;-) Sorry for the ramble

Very interesting story! Good stuff as well! I am not a HUGE fan of Kimber (although admittedly I have spent more time selling them than shooting them so maybe I will come around) but I have recently had the biggest cravings for a 1911 and it's becoming irresistable. Get the XDm, I have an XD and bought it before I had any REAL experience selling/working with all types of handguns, I should've bought the match grade, WELL worth the investment. I love my XD but MAN those XDm's are sweet.

I have started carrying A Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm Compact in a CrossBreed Snapslide with Winchester Flat tip FMJ 115 Gr.

I would post a pic but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

I'd suggest opening an account with PhotoBucket. You can upload the pictures there and even edit them if necessary. And when you view the pictures you have uploaded with them, they provide an easy option to the right of the picture to clip and copy the link to post on message boards such as this to easily share pictures. Hope that helps.
