Loot from Ft Worth gun show

#1

Post by Fosforos »

Mrs Fosforos and I visited the Ft Worth gun show today. Neither one of us went with the expectation of buying anything, just looking.... yeah right, famous last words.

We ended up with the following:

Image

That's a Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack (for me),
a 9 round magazine for MrsF's Bersa Thunder 380 + 20 Federal Hydrashock HPs for the same and 100 rounds of Mactech ball ammo,
a Beretta Tomcat 32 (for her), and a nylon holster for it,
and a S&W 686 (for me),
and not pictured: a 100 count roll of silhouette targets and two pairs of yellow tint shooting glasses.

Here are the two new family members side by side:

Here is the whole family (can't imagine that a couple of months ago we had ZERO firearms)

The new guns got a quick cleaning and are ready to prove themselves at the range tomorrow. Today was a good day.

A good day, that's an understatement! The snubby 686 is on my short list.
What range are you going to shoot at tomorrow? I was thinking about stopping into Winchester Gallery in the morning.
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

We will be shooting at Targetmasters in Garland. It's the closest indoor range to us. It was a bit of a drive to go to the Ft Worth show, but it paid off.

You will HATE the 686 and HV does not need any more firearms. After you figure out the 686 is not for you just call me and I will be a good Christian and take it off of your hands.

Do you mind sharing what you paid for the 686? I'm researching and keeping an eye out for a used one.

Nice 686. That is on my list too.
Really about the only Smith I really, Really, REALLY want.
If I ever find one w/ a 3"barrel.....well, it will just have to happen.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

Shooting 9 or 10 cylinders full of full house .357 through my 4 inch 686 seems to really level out my mood. Love that revo...

It was 524 plus tax. There were several used ones with the 2.5" barrel priced around 475. I saw some with the 4" and 6" barrels used at $425.
I just didn't feel comfortable with buying a used gun and didn't think the savings would have been big enough

Look's like you had a great day!

My wife bought me a Tomcat SS a few years back for my B-day. Never thought that I would carry it that often but that changed because I found it can be the right piece depending on where I'm heading and what I'm wearing.
