Mamma's Boy

There are a lot of threads about wives & girlfriends not having anything to do with arms. Some resopnd that your wife shoots & a few have CHL's also. I am thankful that mine does even though she does not really enjoy a "day" at the range. :( An hour suits her fine. Now Mom is a different story. After Dad died she learned to shoot. Her choice. She carries on her person. She loves to shoot. Won't even think about 50 rds. Wants to run 150 anyway. She is unhappy if I tell her I spent Sat afternoon in the loading room & did not call her. Cleans her own gun. Worked this past Friday on the shooting lanes at her deer stand. She is 75. A little slower than most but she hits what she shoots at w/ pistol or rifle. Anyone else out there know that you are a Redneck because you gave your Mom a 25-06 for her birthday?

I always knew there was something "cool" about my mom...

She told me (being an extreme liberal person) that I'd be the only Republican she'd vote for when I ran...

And since she is an advertising genius, she said that that statement is a great gimmick you cannot lose on...

Now I still have to work on her about "guns"...

When I worked as a range officer in Sugar Land years ago, my parents came to shoot one day.
My Mom is a crack shot and and she fired all my handguns at the time.. Let's see if I can remember...
4" 629, CZ75, Colt Government, SW 640, SW 2.5" 19, Colt Lightweight COmmander, and maybe 1 or 2 more I forget.
She outshot my dad with every gun.

I gave my Mom her Walther P22 on one Mother's Day. I'm thinking either a Springfield XD9 or Glock 19 next. I already have a second Springfield Professional that I'll be tucking away for my future wife as a wedding gift. I guess I'm a redneck . lol.

I could never surprise her with a firearm gift...At least till I could convince her of all the advantages of having one that actually doesn't do anything but sit in a box way up in the closet...

Lot of work to be done there...

highvelocity & kinnylee, you both are on target. Mom outshoots a lot of men even at her age. Especially w/ her pistol. Sig. 232. Put one closer w/ her 25-06 than I did when we put the Redfield on top & she took the target to church & showed every one.

But, I bet you would be real dang proud at the same time.

I must admit that I am a bit jealous. My Mom is completely against guns. She works at the UTMB emergency room and all she ever sees is what results from guns. She doesn't know the rest of the stories. Her opinions are based on those visions and whatever Dan rather says. We all know of his support for our way of life. She also associates gun with my Dad, and well, that marriage didn't go so well.

I make no secrets to her of my passion for guns and shooting sports. I've made no secret that I carry legally. It is no secret that I intend to pass on a healthy respect, and hopefully a love of guns, to my son. I don't believe that I would ever get her to a range, but maybe I can slowly convince her through example that guns are not the evil but the person wielding the gun.

Plumb prowd. I understand about Dad. That is why not much about him. Tough on Mom. We have a ball together though. Hope yours comes around. If another lady could help Mom talks to others about it.
