Seems like a tremendous value considering what you get for the price.
I carry IWB around 4-5 depending on pants or shorts I'm wearing. Use a SHTFgear holster http://www.shtfgear.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm pretty slim (6'5", 195) and the holster fits me well. Others I've tried don't fit me well and the stiff kydex would stick out quite a bit. The great thing is that my new pistol will fit in my old holster.

Well, Buds and Fedex got their stuff together well this time, and my new LC9s arrived on Wednesday evening. Thank goodness my FFL (Assassin Armament in Haslet contact James Cleaves at 817.905.0905) didn't mind me coming by about 9:30 pm to pick up the new toy. If you're in North Fort Worth / south Denton County, I'd definitely suggest giving James a call if you're in the market for a transfer - I pay $5 for a transfer;

Unpacking the gun was unremarkable - you get the gun with a single 7 round magazine, soft case, a dummy magazine (so you don't have to drop the trigger on a real magazine if you're going to break it down for cleaning), a spent round, and a short info pamphlet. Interestingly enough, there was no information on the the cleaning / lubing procedures for the gun. Don't know if it got left out, or swiped somewhere, or what. Would definitely be a good thing to have (I know, the internet serves all!).

Took it out to the ranch yesterday (though the son and daughter-in-law have already moved in, I'm still shuttling between Lake Worth and the new ranch) and threw up a target in the oaks, and let loose with a hundred rounds, plus a small box of Hornady's Critical Duty, which is what I carry. Everything fed and functioned exactly as it should have with nary a FTE, FTF, or malfnction.

The trigger pull felt exactly like it does on my Walther PPS in 9mm. Nice, clean break with a little slack to take up before you hit resistance - clean reset. I don't have a meter, but I'd guess the trigger pull was right on the 5 lbs that Ruger specs.

I also got a Viridian green laser for the gun, a Reactor 5. It is capable of being turned on/off by a little magnet that's sewn into the included soft pocket pouch. Called "ECR" - Enhanced Combat Readiness. You can test it by moving the laser on the outsidee of the pocket pouch and watching the laser turn on/off. This is neat, unless you don't particularly want the laser turned on every time you pull it out of the pouch. The on/off button is on the left side of the laser, as it's mounted on the gun, so it's a little bit more effort to turn the laser on or off manually. The laser produces enough light that it was easily seen on the shaded target during the daylight.

All in all, the look and feel of the LC9s is identical to the LC9 The rounded edges make deploying the gun from a pocket holster easy, without snags on clothing it feels very solid in the hand, points easily, and is large enough (with the 7 round magazine) that you don't loose it in your paw, but small enough that it can fit into a jeans front or rear pocket.

One note - not about the gun, but the Bianchi 100T "ProfessionalTuckable Holster" for the LC9 plus Crimson Trace or Viridian laser. It's a nicely put together leather holster, but the clip that the belt fits into is sized so small that the "gun belt" I wear every day (a 1/4" no name leather belt that I picked up at a gun show) is not able to fit into the clip. Some of my thinner dress belts fit, but I don't wear those any more. I'm going to call Bianchi to see if there's a replacement clip.

After the orientation shooting, I ran a box of Hornady Critical Duty through the LC9s, just to make sure that my preferred carry ammo would work as well as the FMJ target rounds, and it did - no muss, no fuss, no glitches at all.

I'm super impressed with the new trigger. I WISH that Ruger had come out with the striker trigger the first time, but now that it's available, and seems to work exactly like I want it to, it's become one of my primary carry weapons, backed up by my PPS in 9mm and XDx in .45.

I had some time to burn while in the vicinity of rays sporting goods in Dallas and they had at least one priced at $399. I noticed it on my way out of the store and didn't have time to get anyone's attention to try out the trigger. If they continue to be available after a couple of months, I'll probably sell my LC9H and replace it with the S.

Any of you that own this gun or its variant(s) keeping the mag disconnect in place or remove it?

I'll be keeping my mag disconnect in place, I think. Since it's now going to be one of my primary EDC guns, IF I ever have to use it, I'd probably be better off keeping it unmodified and working as the manufacturer intended, I think. Not absolutely sure that would make any difference, but I can think of ways that it might impact a potential court case, and we all know that every bullet fired has a lawyer attached to it.

If I get one, I will leave the mag disconnect in place.

I took the mag disconnect out of my SR9 after reading in Ruger forums how easy it was to do so. Fast forward a couple years, and my striker was randomly failing to reset. For some unknown reason, I decided to shoot it in a weekly IDPA match instead of my normal carry gun. In 50-60 shots, it failed to fire about 10 times. I called Ruger to send it in, and customer service told me that removing the mag disconnect voided my otherwise lifetime warranty.

Well, I couldn't find the mag disconnect part in my parts box, so a little help from Brownell's and I had the SR9 back in factory configuration. Not a single misfire since.

Now, I have no idea if the LC9s mechanism is similar to the SR9. However, I would not wish to void a lifetime warranty.

Oh, and when I checked the Ruger forums a couple years later when my SR9 started having striker reset problems, low and behold I found out it is now a commonly recognized problem.
