What some find stupid, others find fun.

Bench rest shooting is, at least for me, about precision.

Can I adequately shoot standing, sitting, prone, or otherwise?

Sure.

I like to pistol shoot steel plates sometimes, rather than just paper too.

I like a bit of variety in my shooting.

Yesterday, at Dallas Pistol Club, we had a stage where we had 3 BG at arms reach. You had to draw an shoot from retention (that is waist just above your holster, 3 shots dead center and be careful not to shoot your weak hands, I put 3rd in 3 targets in almost 3sec.
