Hi All,

I usually just lurk here, but I just had to comment on San Francisco.

I was a FFL in San Rafael CA (13 miles from SF). I shut down my shop last December---mainly from the red tape and bull that I had to put up with.

In 2000, there were 13 gun shops in my town with a population of about 65,000----when I shut down, there were only 2 left.

I sold a LOT of handguns to many good folks in San Francisco, and it makes me very sad that they are put in the position of now possibly becoming criminals.

I'm sure they'll all be lining up to surrender their handguns---

BTW, I'm now living in Pittsburg TEXAS, and have just got my pin #.

Sorry for the rant---I appreciate your time.

Colin

That's not a rant at all. It's good to hear from someone who witnessed the shrinking of the firearms business in that area. Hopefully, it will open some eyes.

Thanks,
Chas.

I moved to SF Bay area in 1994 just before the infamous AWB. I had to hide some of my toys in a semi hidden crawlspace the builder conveniently fashiond for me. I am certain that they would not have remained hidden to the determined search.

Now that I am back in Texas, I can fondle my 40 round clips with affection.

Along with the ban on fiirearms SF has approved...Which I believe will be once again reversed by the state government, like it was before...

They are also banning active military recruitment in that city at educational facilities...

For that I am starting a campaign to compel the U.S. Navy to boycott the next San Fransisco Fleet Week...As this is obviously another recruitment scheme by the military...

Having been a participant in many of those Fleet Weeks, I understand the impact the loss of the Navy's participation would be to that community, and those that support the military in San Fransisco would understand the boycott if it is successfully implemented...

The military having to be rather politically agnostic, it puts them in a bad position...I totally empathise...It will probably have to be a political decision to refuse the annual invitation by SF elected officials...

Being a West Coast Navy veteran, I would say that I can certainly come up with an alternative that is economically and tactically feasable for the Fleet to make an alternate port of call to places like Acapulco, Pearl Harbor, Vancouver, B.C. etc etc for next year during the month of October when the SF Fleet Week would be held...

Sure would need to do this because we want to honor San Fransisco's wish to not influence or encourage its youths to consider the military as an opportunity to do something that will give you something to be proud of for the rest of your life...And be appreciated by all true Americans...

I plan on first contacting my US Rep...Then I may drop a note to some of the guys and gals I served with back then to see what they think...Then see if it grows...

I wish I had made Admiral...This might have been easier...But I think I have enough already to get something going...
