Well...I caught the bug!

I was a fanatic about my Heckler & Koch USP .45...

Image

And carried it for about a year.

Until I got my first 1911 through less than happy circumstances. My Grandfather willed it to me.

Image

I have the holster, and a couple 8 rd KimPro mags for it for range use only. It was, according to the serial number, made in 1919, and I would like to think that carrying it would be like having my Grandfather looking over me, but it simply means too much to give it the wear carrying involves. Although I do shoot it from time to time. The feel and accuracy made me interested in the 1911 pistol, so I started looking. I finally decided on the Kimber Tactical Ultra II as a carry replacement for the large H&K.

Image

And Yes! I caught the bug! I still love my H&K, but to carry the Kimber. OMG! It is soooooo much easier to conceal, and soooooo much lighter to carry! Yes, it has only 8 rds versus the 13 rds of the H&K, but that just means carry 2 spare magazines. Besides, with less than 600 rds I do what I consider to be rather well with it.

Image

If you had asked me a year ago of I would like to buy a 1911, I would have said "No Thanks". Now my response would be "If only I could afford another one".

Are there any other "Converts" here? And what is you conversion story?

better get a bigger safe to hold all the 1911's you haven't bought yet.

Thanks for sharing, I have been thinking about getting a 1911. Those are both great looking 1911. That little Kimber is a real shooter. You have made me want to look at getting one for my carry gun.

I really don't like the .45....I prefer a better, modern round. <GrinDuckRun />

That said however, I've been positively *itching* to pick up one of those gorgeous Kimber 1911s. That's a very nice one you have there.

Funny, I can't think of a "better round" for manstoppin' than a .45 caliber Winchester Ranger-T 230 gr. bullet! ;-) Heck, even a 230 gr. FMJ "hardball" round would probably suffice in a pinch...try that with another caliber!
