I ran into this exact problem a couple of years ago. No ammo after 10PM...problem was I had a match the next morning. I complained to the Wal-mart home office.....that was an absolute waste of my time.

I really try not to spend any money at walmart and now have a local Target that helps me avoid going in at all.

Excellent idea, considering the comparison of crime statistics between Wal-Mart and Target.

Sounds like another good reason to stay out of wal Mart. I had no idea that the stats were that far apart, but I must admit that it does not surprise me! 2100 hours at the Walmart in Lamarque is an experience I hope most people avoid.

Just do a Google on Wal-Mart and Target crime. It is amazing! I decided to get stats on both to do a comparison.

http://walmartcrimereport.com/report.pdf

http://www.swivel.com/data_sets/show/1002864 this one doesn't have as broad a sampling as I would like... but here they are:

Reported Incident Category....................................Wal-Mart Target
Assault with a deadly weapon, assault, and battery.........198........33
Auto theft..........................................................303 ........34
Robbery and attempted robbery.................................109........18
Sex crimes............................................................31........14
Kidnapping and attempted kidnapping..............................3.........0
Rape and attempted rape.............................................2.........1
Homicide and attempted homicide..............................221.........0

When comparing crime statistics for the two stores, you also need to have their customer counts and a lot of other information. Crime rate is the most important of the statistics, defined as crimes per population. The links you sent appear to be from a straight count of crimes.

I would also want the crimes broken down by victim and time of day/day of week. Any store that is open 24 hours (like most Wal-Marts) is going to have more crimes than a store open limited hours (like most Targets). Also, how many of the crime victims were store employees, and how many of the crimes were committed by store employees, if known.

Of course, the last guesstimate is just my gut instinct on this. I could be way off. I happen to like Wal-Mart as a general rule, and I like Target. Wal-Mart may not be pro-gun, but from what I have seen their policies are much more decided by profit. I can understand a business making a decision I do not like based on actual sales figures. And given the general lack of knowledge of gun stuff on the average clerk's part, I can understand a lack of sales at Wal-Mart. Given the salary rates, I understand the lack of quality of clerks, also.
