Thinking about one of these for the girlfriend/soon-to-be-fiance.

How's the recoil (keep in mind she's about 100lbs soaking wet and has carnie hands)

As I said, it may be awhile before I get to the range. But, the reviewer did say that the recoil was not too bad with standard pressure 9mm loads. The gun will handle +P for carry, but no extreme diet of it should be used.

Since it is an alloy frame, +P+ may not be advisable. Different reviewers say different things about this and just to be on the safe side I have decided that I will not shoot +P+ in it. I will save that for my Browning Hi-Power!

Well.........

Not a good start! :banghead: :mad5

Picked up the pistol from my FFL today and when I got home I found that the front Trijicon sight does not glow at all!

So, requesting a Return Authorization Number from Trijicon and will get the slide off in the mail to them tomorrow.

Additionally, hand cycled several mags of FMJ thru the gun with no problems but could not get a JHP to feed reliably. Tried all three mags and the JHP wants to nose dive on the feed ramp.

I'm guessing that the gun has to be broken in before attempting JHP and once I get the slide back I will run 300-400 rounds of FMJ thru it and then try some JHP on the firing line.

If I still have problems with it feeding JHP after that break in, I will be sending the entire gun back to Springfield on their dime!

Serial number is EMP122XX. You would think they had all the bugs worked out by 12K+ EMP's made!

Anyone ever send anything back to Springfield? Is it just a call and they send a box and label? I hope so as you all know if I walk into a UPS or FedEx office they would force me to send it overnight and balk at it even then..... :mad5 :mad5

My EMP was a problem child at first too.

I sent it back to SA and they did a bunch of work to it and I have had only one stoppage I can remember in the last several thousand rounds, except for some reloads I made using 115 gr Hornady XTP bullets, which just flat out wouldn't feed for anything.

The actual process was pretty simple, call 'em up and tell 'em what problems you are having. They'll send you a shipping label, and I think a box. Pack it up and drop it off at your FedEx station. They'll ship it back to you directly when it is fixed.

I got mine back in something like 8 days from the time I dropped it off.

What JHP are you using? Mine will feed 124 grain Gold Dots and 147 grain WWB JHP perfectly, but does not like the 115 grain XTP at all.

Corbon 125gr +P in brass case. Will just save these for the BHP that eats anything. :smilelol5:

I have read reviews of the 124 grain Speer Gold Dots with good results in the EMP.

I will pick up some of those to try after I get my slide back from Trijicon and run about 200-300 rounds of FMJ thru it (WET).

Hopefully I will have success as others have after a good wet break in. If not, thanks for the tip that SA will send the label (and pay for return) if I end up having to go that route.

Finally at the range today and 300 rounds of Federal FMJ down the pipe and 18 rounds of Gold Dots GDHP.

All worked perfectly, no problems what-so-ever. Nice little pistol and I will carry it in these hot Summer months, going back to the .45 ACP's when the fall arrives!
