In addition to the Weaver and Isosceles stances already mentioned, I thought I would add the modified Weaver. Many people find the arms straight and locked and equal length (of the Isosceles) to be very easy to shoot and handle the recoil. But, as was pointed out, the foot position of the Weaver is much better for balance and reaction to recoil.

So, Some people use the foot position of the Weaver (one foot ahead of the other, a comfortable distance apart), and then turn the waist so that the torso is still straight on to the target. This gives them the arm strength of the Isosceles with the balance of the weaver.

I strongly recommend you try each, along with different hand positions on the grips, to find which one works best for you.
