XS SIGHTS

I have these on my XD(M)45 Compact 3.8, and I've become a big believer in them:

They are the Trijicon HD tritium sights.

The front sight is similar to the XS sight except that the plastic insert surrounding the front tritium lamp is colored orange (also available in yellow) and it is phosphorescent and glows in the dark for a while after you transition from sunlight to low light. It also glows VERY brightly in sunlight. When it stops phosphorescing, you still have the tritium lamp.

The rear sight has two tritium lamps in black inserts, inset into the serrated black rear face. The rear notch is a broad "U" shape which has plenty of room to accommodate the oversized front dot, and you really don't see the rear tritium lamps unless the light is low enough for them to stand out. The front face of the rear sight stands up straight so that it can be used to rack the slide.

These have become my favorite sights by far, although I do like the XS sights.

Put these on both my Glocks about a year or so ago and like them very much. I do wish the tritium dots were bigger, like Meprolights, but the orange front sight in daytime is great.

Due to aging eyes, I decided to go with the big dot on my Glock 30 that I carry and use for IDPA.

(yes, I shoot IDPA with a compact 45 - I use full power factory ammo too... gives me a nice excuse when I stink it up )

I really like the big dot and I found that once I got used to it, I don't have problems with fairly long range (30 yard IDPA shots) or with headshots at closer range. It takes some getting used to, but I sure like it.

I have them on a couple of P99s; one setup with the XS rear sight and one with a standard notch rear sight.

I prefer the notch rear sight setup - you get the benefit of the large front dot for fast target acquisition but with more precise aiming for tighter groups at distance by using like a regular 3-dot system.

Very nice! I'm looking for some sights for my Kimber Ultra Carry and I think these are what I'm going to go with.

They were installed on the plastic Kahr about 15 years ago. Kinda dim now but, marginally, still useable. It allows the sights to be seen, and aligned. If the shooter can hold and squeeze a long stroke, it'd be unlikely to be disappoint.

Sight alignment, trigger control, and follow through remain as important as ever. The Golf ball front and the Express rear seem to make sight alignment guicker for these eyes of mine. Kahr makes trigger control smoother for these arthritic hands. When, not if, but when, I drop a shot or three, the problem is between my ears.

I have the deck stacked in my favor with a familar 25 yd std Outdoor Pistol target cemter at 25 yds, 6 o'clock hold, two hands, full mag, tri-focals, and a loong Timed Fire cadence.
