Dressing up my AR 15

B5 has released a Key Mod polymer drop in hand guard that is much slimmer than most. This item WILL dress up an AR.

There's a youtube.com video on the Mrgunsngear Channel showing the circumference difference between the Magpul handguard and the B5.

I'm getting one. It's great for guys like me who don't care for the big ole honking size hand guards like a Magpul. This is a drop in - not a free float. BTW, Magpul makes a great hand guard, I'm only complaining about the circumference...

Also, if you don't care to spend the bucks for the Geissele trigger, consider an ALG for about $65.00 or less depending on where you buy it. I think ALG is headed by Mr. Geissele's wife and from what I've heard it's a darn good inexpensive trigger. Far superior to most stock triggers.

Also, Keymod handguards are really the cats meow for ease of adding equipment.

I looked at Primary arms trigger page looked great, but can't do one right now. I will look at what you suggested that's more in my price range right now .
I think I am going to keep the Diamondhead hand guard right now since I just paid for the add-on rails for it.. I don't shoot standing up at least not yet , mostly bench shooting for now. so the hand guard is not important I will most likely get another ar down the road and have this one with all the goodies on it when purchased and give this one to my son. Thanks for the input.
Edit.. I just looked at the ALG trigger on Brownell's page. that looks pretty good I may do that one real fast.. looks like its easy to install. Good price to Thanks again

If you want to add stuff the keymods are where its at. They're lighter and slimmer than the picatinny rails. Another plus is you don't have to choose between buying rail covers to protect your hands and the rails on the unused part or deal with sharp edges digging in. Plus they allow you to mount stuff in places besides 12, 6, 9, and 3. If I ever need more mounting options I'm going to go the keymod route.

The smaller light is a strobe. I had it on a XDm 45 that I don't own anymore and I don't have a pistol with a rail anymore- so I thought the strobe would be cool on the rifle. no other reason. I got my eye on a laser designator for the other side. 3 mile range.

Gunner, if I may, which handgaurd is that? I've been wanting to put a troy alpha or omega rail on my ar and that is closest thing I've seen to a drop in version. I ask because it may be next year before I'm able to save for the troy rail and all the other required material for the job now that I'm buying ammo every time I walk into Walmart again.

J, Its a Diamondhead VR-S Rail system 7" http://www.diamondhead-usa.com/. It works good for me. Not plastic of which I am not fond of. Hope this helps.
Diamond Head is used on all of Stag Arms railed guns. I know what you mean about buying ammo at walmart except I got my wife trained to get it for me since I avoid going there at all costs. She knows what numbers are on the box I want so it's working out pretty good

I've got a Geissele SD-C trigger in one of my ARs and it is a fantastic trigger. So good, that it has jaded me to the point that any future ARs I own will need one as well. I have tried the ALG Combat trigger, and while no where as nice as the Geissele, it is far superior to a mil-spec single stage.

I know everyone seems to think Keymod is the best thing since sliced bread, but I just don't feel it. I like the modern modular rail concept, but just can't stand the visual of a handguard that looks like a commercial shelving unit. I recently purchased a Centurion CMR and it is a fantastic rail.

Thanks for the info I am going to order a ALG trigger. I am new to ar's so it will be an experience for me. What should I be feeling with the new trigger? vs the mil spec?

It removes the gritty feel that is present in a mil-spec trigger. It's got smoother engagement surfaces and is NiB coated which slickens things up a bit. Pull weight won't be changed much (other than the reduction in friction), so if you are wanting a significantly lighter trigger or something 2-stage, you will want something else. However, it you want a bet your life reliable single stage that is nice and smooth, the ALG is great and priced well.

One a slightly different but related note - many people will run reduced power hammer springs (and some "upgraded" triggers include them), I use my rifle as a defensive tool and won't risk the potential for light primer strikes that could possible result. YMMV.

Thanks for the info on triggers. I dont want light primer strikes at any time either, thats good info I will not be changing any springs. This will be my first trigger install anything to watch out for? I see the words drop in alot pulll it out drop one in ? almost sounds too easy?
