It's not without charm and character.

My choice...my Bushmaster M4A3 with a Trijicon TAO1NSN mounted right on top ;-), along with five or six bandoliers of M855. Now that's a fun day at the range! Ohh, my precious!

With the ammo situation the way it is, I've pretty much "hidden" my carbine from myself! I've got a small stockpile of 5.56mm, and I'm too gutless to shoot it.

I can recall when 1000 rounds of M855 or XM193 went for about 100 bucks (that was only a few years ago, folks)...those were the days. Last time I checked (about a month ago), 1000 rounds of M855 was goin' for $500!

I picked up two of those bad boys on sale a few weeks ago and I'm in the process of accessorizing.

Picked up some 55G 5.56 at the local gun show for about 60 cents on the dollar, but since they are FMJ its hard to find a place to use them. As I study up on these bad boys, finding the most accurate and effective ammo is a real challenge and unfortunately, its bound to get worse.

Looks like my new hobby is about to become reloading.

I still get a charge out of shooting my Glock family just about every weekend. Its amazing the difference between Blazer Brass from Walmart vs. good Speer Gold Dot. There really is more bang for the buck.

I have narrowed it down to two after years and years of searching. My Kimber Ultra CDP II, great carry pistol , that shoots perfect, its light and stays on my hip all the time. Took me forever to find a pistol I did not mind carrying and was reliable.
My other is my Marlin 1894C in .357 mag, just something about a good lever action rifle. Great shooter, ammo will not break the bank, easy to carry around, just feels good.

What is my favorite fun gun??????

Well..........that depends! Hahahahahaha

With kids/family - any .22LR I kept a laser sighted RugerMkII .22 pistol just for the kids. Lots of oooooo's and ahhhh's when it came out. The poor old coke cans never had a chance.

Goofing off at the rifle range - 1898 US Krag .30US Army. Accurate and a hoot to outshoot the goombahs with the latest "tactical" rifle.
Of course I can't outshoot them off the bench but offhand they stink.

Goofing off in the woods - 1847 Colt Walker .44 cap&ball revolver.

Hmmm. I love them all.

I guess my all time favorite is my Ruger P345. More than a thousand rounds and only one feed problem (which was my ignorance catchin' up to me). Since it is my CCW, I just feel more comfortable and am more accurate with it.

My other fav is my Mossberg 500 12 ga. Defender with the 18.5 inch barrel, Combat Stock and forward pistol grip. It let's me know I have put lead downrange! :o

Most fun gun pistol without a doubt is the Ruger MK III rimfire with the red dot.

Revolver, it would be the 500SW or the SP101 in 22 LR

Rifle, gotta be the AK. Never failed to fire, didn't cost a whole lot, ammo is cheap and it almost never needs any attention other than feeding it a steady diet of surplus, or decent reloads.

For more serious work, the AI in .308, the 6mm BBR or the Remington XP, with an honorable mention going to the TC in 35 Remington.

Oh yeah, carlson1, the Smith is absolutely beautiful. I've always had a real soft spot for classic Smiths, and yours has all the personality of a gun that would stay in my posession forever. When I see a specimen like that, I hafta think every mark or blemish on it has a story behind it.

Toys are fun, but there are just some guns that will always exude pure class.

Your Smith is a fine example of that. ;)
