Starting to love Glocks

USA1, along with the recoil springs ( i lost count on how many they have issued over the past 2 years), there have been some issues with out of spec extractors on recent gen 3 and gen 4 g19 models. There have been numerous threads on various forums with people experiencing issues with the new gen 4 g19 models and several glock owners are doing their own R&D. Dont take this as i am trying to bash glocks or talk you out of purchasing this pistol; i am just trying to relay some info that is worth knowing and researching. All of the pistols i own are glocks but all of them are older gen 3 models that have always functioned for me. Personally, i am looking forward to the gne 4 g21s. So far, i havent seen many negative comments on that model but im going to wait another year before giving a gen 4 glock a try. I am hoping Glock gets their stuff together and fixes all the problems with the new gen 4 models.

After having plenty of time at work to fondle and dry fire all the Glocks, I have narrowed
it down to the generation 4 G19 or the G26. I like the gen4 because of the new stippling design
and the three interchangeable back straps. With the smallest back strap, it doesn't feel like I'm
holding a brick like with the gen3 models. Also the gen4 comes with three magazines.

I know there has been a recall of the gen4 recoil springs but Glock will promptly send out the
replacement with a simple phone call.

There are a couple of reasons why I want to carry the Glock over my beloved Kimber. The first is
the higher capacity. The second reason, which is the most important to me is that I don't beat up
the Kimber because of the line of work I'm in...(not the gun store job, but my primary job).
..... I wouldn't mind so much abusing the Glock.

Besides, is there a law somewhere that says a feller cain't have a 1911 and a Glock?

OK, OK..... I know. There is a G19 in residence under my roof. But this is how I justify it: It's my wife's. Not my fault. SHE picked it out and bought it. You know what? She's carried it about 3 times. For almost its entire darkening of my doorway, it has resided on the bed stand on her side of the bed, with a tactical light mounted. Her carry gun most of that time was a 642 CT, and now it's a Kahr CW9.

Oh the shame of it all.....

Most of you know I am a fan of the 1911 (that will never change). However, I have started a new job, part-time at a gun store that is an authorized Glock dealer. Part of the job requires me to become very familiar with Glocks and their parts.

One of the first things I had to learn was how to properly and completely strip down a Glock to it's individual components right down to the tiny little springs and rebuild it without any parts left over.

The more I am exposed to this simple yet fascinating firearm, the more I am beginning to appreciate it. I can seriously see myself carrying a Glock soon as my EDC. The only problem is figuring out which one.

P.S. One of the perks of working at a gun store is the ability to open carry. My Kimber is loving it.

I think I'm in love with my g19... She barks on command every time! Trigger seems to get smoother as the round count goes higher. I just got a 26.. I just need to put a couple thousand rounds down range to sweeten up the trigger. It's an expensive trigger job, but it sure is fun!

Gen4 G26

I own one, have put somewhere in the neighborhood of 4,000 rounds through it. Changed the recoil spring @ 3,500 just because I wanted to be on the safe side. The original spring went to 3,500 though. Anyway. No problems AT ALL. Barrel looks good. Little bit of holster wear. Absolutely love that little gun. Oh.. and it's cheap to practice with, and a heck of an accurate little brick.

Welcome to the Glock side!! I have and love my G19, next will be G23. I have to admit that I've toyed with the idea of getting a G38 in the .45 GAP. With 5 State Police Agencies having adapted it as their issue caliber (with G37) it seems to be worth looking into. They say that it puts the size in the same range as the G19 and G23.
