I went to the gun show at Reliant Center today, and left a brand new Steyr M40! I know some people think it looks strange, but I personally like the looks, and I've heard a lot of good things about them.

Give us a range report when you shoot it. We look forward to hearing about it.
Have you carried it yet?

I've never been to a gun show so how was the show? Any "deals" on ammo (specifically 5.56) that you can recall? I just got an AR15 so I am in need of ammo and although I plan on reloading for it, my supply of .223 brass is meager right now, to say the least. I would like to go but that's a pretty fair drive just to find out I spent 4 hours road time plus gas and could have gotten it "cheaper" off of the internet (figuring everything in).

I''ll definitely give a range report, but I have to make a run to walmart for ammo, since range ammo is still ridiculously expensive at the gunshows I've been to. I did pick up some reloaded .223 for $34 and some HP in .40, as well as some surplus ammo, but I didn't find any especially good deals.

Did you happen to see any leather holsters for an XD-40 SC or a CZ P-01 9 mm pistol? I'm looking for a good OWB holster for these 2 pistols.

Oh, and the Steyr M40 looks and feels great! I fondled one at the Pasadena show a couple of weeks ago.

Nice looking piece.
I wanted to go but had too many Honey Do's to get away.

Hi mdek,

Did they charge a parking fee at the show?

thanks,
PhilR.

yes, parking cost a ridiculous $8 (entrance was $7).

I didn't see any leather holsters, but I wasn't looking for any either. There was a guy selling decent nylon holsters for reasonable prices though. I know they're not as good as leather, but I've had good luck with them...

I have over a 100,000 rounds through my Steyr M9. Great guns. Retired it in favor of a S&W M&P 9.
