I imagine the responses to this poll will depend on you location so please describe your situation and why you feel your vote is appropriate for where you are.

I live on a little spread outside of town. My driveway is about 500 ft. long, so nobody just strolls by my house. They have to have a reason to be there. I have dogs including a large German Shepard that puts up quite a racket whenever anyone outside the household comes around. So I'm comfortable with the doors unlocked during the day when people are home. At night I usually lock them up.
And I'm always carrying, indoors and out. So I never have to go very far to put my hand on a gun.

My driveway's about the same as Frankie's, but I sleep days, so I'll usually lock the door before I go to bed. When I'm awake and home, it's about 50/50; since I tend to be outside working on stuff, I don't lock and unlock every time.
OTOH, there are plenty of people in this area that still leave their keys in the car at the grocery store, with the windows down. They just have no clue that anything like a car theft could happen to them.

I voted for "always locked" because I always try create at least one barrier between me and a surprise. If my garage door is opened, my kitchen door (which leads to the garage) is locked. During the half-hour my front door is opened in the mornings for my cats to visit the front lawn, my door is blocked after six inches of opening, and one of my carry pieces is on me. One barrier provides me the opportunity to go from defense to offense. All my doors to the outside have outside/inside key locking.

Since we are urbanites...
When we are there, most of the time...Just to slow them down...
When we are gone, all the time...Just to slow them down...
Good thing we have nosey nieghbors...We all look out for each other...

I voted always locked, but that's not entirely accurate. I actually only lock the doors when they're closed!

Always, whether I am in or out. When in, the door is double-bolted. I live in an apartment in the city, and people walk through our lot all the time. As an apartment, there's very little distance to retreat to inside, anyway.

We live in a house in suburbia. Doors are always locked. It tends to keep people from just walking in.
I was a cop too long to not do so.

I fall in between the top 2 choices.
The front and back doors are usually locked, but the door leading to the garage is only locked at night. The front and back doors kind of depend on what I am doing that day. If I am in and out working in the yard then they probably stay unlocked so I have easy access to come inside through any door when needed. Other than those 2 doors stay locked.
At night all doors are locked and the alarm is set.

Mine are always locked with a security bar in place on the front and my puppy in the back
I am not going to have someone walk/run into my home while I am watching my Dancing with the Stars episode.....I flat out refuse to be disrupted!

I keep doors locked. I know this won't prevent a motivated criminal, but the plan is that he will have to make enough noise to get my attention.
When I'm working in the yard, I leave the doors unlocked; however, I'm also wearing my gun while working in the yard.
I live in a semi-rural setting not far from Houston. Other than cows occasionally getting loose, not much happens out here. I still remain watchful, as one bad experience would be one too many IMO.
