Lets Talk about the revolvers!

#1

Post by jbirds1210 »

In today's gun world it seems that most of the attention is paid to semi autos. I love these guns and have a collection of them, but I love revolvers as well. I feel that revolvers, even full size ones still have a very significant place in the world of self-defense.
My favorite is a stainless 686 Smith .357....I love this gun and carry it often even though it is a bit bulky and heavy, it was my high school graduation present from my father and has become a security blanket of sorts for me . I have several others that I would choose over some of todays autos. Please...tell me about your favorite and if you feel they are still a significant tool in todays world. :D

I really like my S&W 642. It is a great BUG and can go anywhere with me.

I have two nickle S&W 19's and an 18 that are the favorites of my revolvers, the K frames really suit me, almost all my revolvers are S&W nowday's, I used to use mostly Colt's but somewhere along the way I decided that I liked S&W better.

I seldom use magnum ammo in a revolver, most of the time it's +p or mid range.

I am a bit of a wheel gun fanatic. I have a couple really nice Smiths and a Python. I also have a 45LC Ruger Vaquero Single action cowboy gun that's a lot of fun.
I like'em all. I especially like the Scandium S&W snubs. They're great for carry as they weigh almost nothing.

Cut my teeth on a S&W 28 with 6" barrel. Too bulky for concealed carry.

There is this guy I know who is an avid SW 686 shooter. Pretty cool gun, and he said the optimum barrel length is 4" because he said it is short enough to conceal, and can carry a long enough ejector to eject all the spent shell casing.
