What happens when you shoot a container of gasoline?

I have read all though not in any legal books that a Gallon of Gasoline has the same energy of 20 sticks of Dynamite in the proper conditions of ignition and oxygen mixture.
And while I cant prove this to be true I would not care to try it out myself.

She is cute, but I don't think either she or her boyfriend with the camera has much between the ears.

Especially when recording from diagonally in front of her when she was shooting.

Can you explain how this is relevant to Texas CHL?

The girl had a gun.
She shot it.

Gun Safety!

She sorta proved that that shooting into a gastank won't cause it to explode unless the gas is already burning. I now feel much better about getting into a gunfight at a gas station.

At least she didn't shoot directly across the roof of the car. I creased the roof of an Impala once so long ago .....

Some basic chemistry, gasoline does not burn or explode, it is the vapor that does, but it must be mixed with oxygen to do so.
The ignition temperature of gasoline vapor AND oxygen mixture is about 1600', + -. The temperature of a smouldering cigarette is about 800-900', not nearly hot enough to ignite a gasoline vapor/ oxygen mix, I don't care how many dozen movies show it happening.

I saw a LE training video where they shot a gas tank that was half full. Nothing set it off until they shot it with a .50 machine gun with tracers. It then began to burn.

liquid gasoline does not burn, vapors do.

If you look real close it looks like there was a substantial tripod that took those shots from the front. It was exposed in one of the shots. And the shot from the front was not hand held, at least not by an amateur.

These videos simply give anti-gun activists that much more ammo. I for one would rather not have vids like this posted on our website. Even though the young lady is showing "properties of gasoline", it comes across as "rednecks with guns".

Whats wrong with rednecks with guns? Some of my favorite rednecks have CHLs ... Just kidding around, but I don't get it. While its not exactly intellectually stimulating why is this offensive? I think Linda and Jim might have issues with it also. Am I missing something? I find it a refreshing break from going on and on about why Open carry is bad, or days and days of debating the legality of 30.06 on leased city property.

If it were Ayoob or Phil Nigh the science guy doing the demo would it have been offensive? If she had a good old mid western yankee accent would that have been OK?

I don't understand how this could be used against us, It shows someone having fun with guns. I see that as positive. Sorta like mythbusters but just a little sillier. Facts typically work in our favor She demonstrated some simple facts.

I hate to see people violating safety rules, like shooting without eye and ear protection.

If this video is not completely fake, that young woman took a few decibels off her hearing for the rest of her life.

Maybe I'm just prudish, but I think it sets a bad example.

I didn't notice, but then during most of my shooting career eye and ear protection wasn't used. We never used ear protection during my army training it wasn't even available during full auto and blowin' crap up. Today I always use ear and Eye protection at the range, but my hearing is already shot. Government will still insist that its not their fault. Do hunters actually wear that stuff before they shoot at Bambi?

Some hunters wear electronic ear protection. I would if I hunted.

Still, there's a lot of difference between one shot a year for deer hunting and a dozen in five minutes when there's no reason not to wear muffs.
