Police: Man Shot Himself In Genitals During Robbery "rlol" :smilelol5:

http://www.theindychannel.com/news/15051234/detail.html

KOKOMO, Ind. -- Police said a Kokomo man accidentally shot himself in the genitals as he robbed a convenience store early Tuesday.

Kokomo police said they were called to a Village Pantry store at 100 N. Ohio St. at about 4:20 a.m. after a clerk at the store called them.

The female clerk told police that a man came into the store with a semiautomatic handgun, grabbed her hair and demanded cash and cigarettes before handing her a white cloth bag.

The clerk said that as she retrieved the cigarettes she heard a gunshot and turned to confront the man, who yelled that he had shot himself.

"The bullet traveled through his right testicle ... and then into the bottom part of his leg," Kokomo police Lt. Don Whitehead said.

Police said the man, whom they identified as 25-year-old Derrick Kosch, grabbed the bag full of cash and fled the store.

In-store surveillance cameras showed that Kosch shot himself as he placed the gun into the waistband of his pants, police said.

Shortly after the robbery, dispatchers got a call from someone in a home -- located several blocks away from the store -- about a man who was shot.

When officers arrived, they found Kosch. The home is his grandmother's, police said.

"He said he had been shot (and) someone was trying to rob him," said the grandmother, whom 6News didn't name. "In the meantime, I found out that he was trying to rob somebody else."

Kosch was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Officers said that while at the home they found the bag of money that was taken from the convenience store and clothes seen on the robber in the surveillance tape.

Police said Kosch was arrested on robbery and criminal recklessness charges. Police said they were looking for the gun.

My guess would be that visiting the SafeCarry booth at the next gun show will not be high on his list of priorities.

As a side note, have you ever noticed how the media describes the weapon used to the best of their ability, but we NEVER see a description of the perpetrator? Agenda much?

I have personally seen this type of injury several times. Back when I worked in a big ER back in California, we had a number of patients over the years who were brought in with self inflicted gunshot wounds to the beans and franks. But the absolute funniest one was a guy who had shot himself through both his (ahem!) "little head" AND his left testicle. He kept repeating this crazy story about how some guy knocked him down onto his back, and then reached down and (demonstrating how the alleged perp held his pistol down low and parallel to the ground) shot him in his business.

Never mind that it was obvious that the entire muzzle blast had been contained within the front of his jockey shorts with most of the powder residue on the inside.

But most of them were just so darned embarrassed that they just told the truth about what happened.

I also saw a guy with a "self" inflicted through and through gunshot wound of his right buttock. He had a little .25 cal pistol hidden in the right rear pocket of his jeans - which had a hole in the pocket....

The dude is standing at a bar having a beer when the pistol falls out of the hole in his pocket and strikes the floor with the muzzle pointing straight up. The gun goes off, and the little pill smacks him on the underside of his buttock and exits the top. All I could say when he told me how it happened was, "Owee-eeee!"
