In the house, it's a Mossberg 835 de-plugged. When I go out to the land it's the Norinco copy of the Ithaca 37 riot model. I'm not too concerned about capacity with either; if five shots of 00, or four 00 and one slug don't slow down a threat enough for me to stuff a couple more in, I should have already been running.

Mossberg 500A...What a coincidence!!!

My wife truly believes the sound of a good pump action shotgun in the middle of the night is the best inducer of weak bowels (and capitulation) in any intruder who happens to make a very poor decision to pay us an uninvited visit...

How can you argue with logic like that???

An old beat up Winchester Defender..
I used to have one - great gun. I don't think you could go wrong with any modern pump
or semi in good condition. I think in the past it was felt autos weren't reliable enough for
defensive use, but I don't think that's the case anymore. While typical police issue has
generally been 870 pumps, I *think* the US military is now issuing semi-autos. (can anyone
confirm that?)

I think the more important issue is you don't want a 30" goose barrel for home defense :-)
