I am sure many of you have seen this movie. if you haven't, just rent it, fast forward to last half hour, and watch the last gun fight scene. I think it's the best rifle fighting scene since "The Heat." Realistic sound and tactics/gun handling, except for where they got the guns and ammo after a car crash?

They got their weapons from all the Saudi Police forces that were "escorting" them before the crash. I also agree it is an excellent shooting scene. I would advise watching the whole movie. I think it contains a powerful message to those who are not sheep and see the need to fight those wish to do us harm. Bring the fight to them!

I think the psychological part where they show both sides saying, "Don't cry, we're going to kill them all," is very important, too.
good to remember that just cause we don't like'em, don't mean they're wrong.
and just cause they don't like us, don't mean we're wrong.

my personal fave was Alias Jennifer Gardner poppin' a cap in the Jihadists that were tryin' to decapitate Jason Bateman.

I agree that it's a good movie and the big chase/shooting scene is one of most absorbing actions scenes in several years.

If you rent it on DVD, watch the bonus features -- they show the shooting scene from the perspectives of the four major characters and then show the technical side of how they shot the ambush scene on the freeway -- very interesting stuff...

That is a good movie. I enjoyed watching Chris Cooper in his role, a good guy for once! Another exciting scene was when Jennifer Garner was wrestling with the big guy and has to use her knife. I added this movie to my "HD movies to own when I get a HD player" list.

I never saw it, I thought I read it was a dirty liberal movie, and I avoid those. Was it not a politically lib movie? If not, I'll check it out.

I really enjoyed this one too. I was wary about it when I saw the previews, thinking either it could be a strong anti-terrorist movie or a strong anti-American movie. I think, however, that it was strongly anti-terrorist overall because they didn't editorialize: they just showed what terrorists do, and when you see that, you naturally want to condemn it. I did wonder about the last line, though, whether it was intended to morally equate the terrorists with those who seek to kill them.

Aside from that, the ending gun battle was one of the most intense in a movie I have seen in a while. I highly recommend the movie to anyone who wants to be reminded who and what we are fighting.

Ok, I think I recall this movie. This is one where the terrorist is a psuedo-hero.

I disagree. I think that instead it showed that the Terrorist was human. and that with human emotions, people can let themselves fall victim to that "we'll kill them all" mentality.
I thought that the part at the very end where Jamie Foxx met with the Saudi's kids, showed that he said those things and had fallen prey to the pitfall of hate, but after having spent time with the Saudi, he had risen above the blanket of the R word.
see, he felt genuine remorse and saddness about this guy whom he had come to know as a person and not just another A-rab.

also, I thought it showed how easy it is to perpetuate the feelings of hate towards a people in that "eye for an eye" mentality.
"they killed Grandpa, so I'ma gon' kill dem, too."

I think it's an attempt to show that sociological theory of conflit society theorem introduced by Marx. Without dipping into my college educated sociological mindset, it basically says that society, and different factions of society, will always be in conflict with one another. So by both sides saying "we will kill them all" they are attempting to say that conflict is inevitable between "us" and "them" even though we often wish for peace. The same theory applies to say the upper and lower class in our own inner society (making them a subculture). The rich want to get richer and keep the poor, poor so that they can stay rich. The poor want to get rich but the only way to do so in a currency balleneced society is to eliminate intake from the rich. Thus conflict.

Going to the movies: Easter Promises, starring Vigo Mortenson, Naomi Watts. A must see movie to any one interested in self defense simply for the knife fight scene between Mortenson and two Chechen Mafia henchmen. Absolutely gripping, without the normal gratuitous violence and dance school choreography. There has never before been a killing scene so realistic put on film. Feel skin flay, smell the fresh blood. When it's over, you will know what it means to loose a knife fight. Not a big movie goer, but unless I have missed something, this fight scene is something of a cinematic breakthrough in style that film students will study the way they do the works of Ingmar Bergman.

The movie "Kingdom" show most graphicly why in addition to your primary, pistols and BUGs, you should always carry a Folding Knife.

To me, the best line in the movie is when Jamie Foxx tells the Saudi minister "you ever been to Terrell Texas?" I may be biased though.

I'm not into the psycobabble. Those who want to kill us should be killed before they can.

I watched the Blu-Ray version over the weekend.

Awesome movie with some great action and cool gun fights.

I didn't go in looking for a political message and didn't get one. People seem to over-analyze this sort of thing. It's just a movie. Have fun.
