I never thought I would utter that phrase. It's like considering going over to the "Dark Side"! I'm now wondering if I should bury a live frog under a pitch pine stump and burn some chicken feathers on top and march around the flames under the midnight moon chanting "It's really not a brick, it's really not a brink, it's really not........"

I have absolutely no friends that carry, or even own Glocks, or admit to ever handling Glocks, so I really have had no hands on with a Glock. I always figured that my short. fat fingers would never reach the trigger(s) on a Glock, and that they were such blocky shaped chunks of tupperware I would not have a comfortable grip. Boy, was I wrong! Tonight, while testing a gun that I had completely disassembled to make some repairs, I had the occassion to visit with a guy shooting a Glock 19. I watched while he shot a magazine and couldn't believe how fast the gun returned for each round - nearly no muzzle flip at all. When I commented on his obvious superior wrist and grip strength he loaded up a magazine and handed it to me. Surprise, I could get the entire pad of the first joint of my triggere finger comfortably on the trigger, and even the grip was comfortable and the tritium sights just fell right on target. All it took was one magazine and my whole opinion suddenly was changed. Honestly, the percieved recoil of the G19 9mm was almost as insignificant as that of the very anemic 32 acp.

Since my favorite carry is IWB, and the Glock still looks like it's as wide as a brick, will it really work? I can IWB the Sig 239/40 cal or Kimber Compact with most of my "wardrobe", and Kel-Tec PF9 and/or P3AT with even more. The G19 just looks chunkier than the Sig 239, and I really want something a bit smaller in 9mm. How difficult is it to conceal the chunky looking double stack grip of the G19? Would I still be able to mix with respectable folks if I did buy a Glock?

The G19's an excellent gun. It's been my primary carry for close to 10 years now, and it's probably the best overall model Glock has put out (IMHO, of course). I've had up to 8 Glocks at one time, but most are all gone, now, except for a pair of G19s that I intend to keep until Hell freezes over.

I normally carry OWB exclusively these days (Alessi CQC/S, Don Hume H721OT, or home-built holsters), but I have in the past carried the G19 comfortably IWB using a Waldon Holster Co IWB (out of business now, but similar design as the Mitch Rosen ARG with the rear offset loop) and later a Tucker Gunleather "The Answer".

For many many reasons I consider the Glock 19 to be the best all around handgun on this earth. Its not the only Glock I own and not the one I choose to carry most often (G27 IWB for me most days) -but the G19 ammo is plentiful and modestly priced, the compact (midsized) 3rd Generation frame fits my hand the best, the G19 is tank tough and reliable, and I can't seem to make the thing rust even after long days of severe abuse. In addition the Glock trigger is only bested by the 1911 for fast accurate shooting. However, when all the other issues are brought into the equation for a carry pistol the Glock wins IMHO.

And just for the record, I was a 1911 guy for over 10 years. Carried many highly customized Colts and while I still respect that SA trigger I think the Glock is a better all around pistol. But it does require some training and practice to fully realize how good the Glock can be.

You've already shot it and have decided that you like it. You have already given yourself permission to buy one and to carry it.

Your comments echo my idea that people need to try stuff out for themselves. It seems there's a lot of weight given to internet talk. But we need to see how relevent and accurate that information is and how it applies to us.

Not too difficult with a decent belt & good holster. IIRC, the width is 1.2" for the g19 and 1.1" for 1911.
I know lots of folks that even IWB carry G17s, and G34s.

Yes, you could still talk to your "1911" friends.

I'd take my G22 over my SF 1911 everyday of the week. Prepare to become a glock lover.

Since you are looking at a Glock but would like something prettier and more ergonomic AND fits small hands even better - try an M & P before putting your money on a Glock!

I've got a Glock 33, it's the next size smaller but still 'chunky'. It hides IWB just as well as my P239/40. You will notice the weight difference. I forget I have the Glock on. I never forget the P239 is pulling my pants down. My Glock holster(CrossBreed) is lighter than my P239 holster(Comp-Tac Minotaur Spartan). I plan on getting a Glock body for the Spartan. Then I will be able to compare the Glock and the P239 carried in the 'same' holster.
Everybody needs a Glock! Even Longtooth! And a SmartCarry too!
If you go look at the S&W M&P, tell us you opinion on the two of them.

Lest we never forget the day S&W tried to made a glock, and made the Sigma. May it rest in peace, but they keep making the paper weights.

Glocks are good carry guns despite all that.

Aint nothing wrong with a Glock! My wife can out shot a friend any day or night of the week with her Glock 19, and he shoots a Les Baer TRS. No gun collection is complete with out one.
