Mars & I bought a few bikes. He can't walk far, but he can bike, and our new town has 75 miles of trails.

Mars was wondering if there is such a thing as a concealable bike holster. I've never heard of anything like that, but I thought I would check here. If there is such a thing, I'm sure someone here knows about it.

You can get very creative with a wilderness safepacker. That or a fanny pack holster might be the way to go.

OWB would not be uncomfortable for short rides.

I do quite a bit of trail riding in the woods and I use a thumb break pancake holster. The only reason I use the thumbreak while on a bicycle is in case I take a spill I don't want it coming out. Some of the trails I ride are kinda rough so spills aren't that uncommon.

Sometimes I'm out for hours at a time and I don't notice anything more discomfort than I do on a normal daily basis. The extra weight of pistol & spare mags gives me an extra bit of workout.

Of course, I don't wear any of that spandex, painted on clothing that some road riders wear. I guess that would make concealment a bit trickier.

I wear a belt a little above my waste under my shirt that holds an IWB holster in the small of my back. I find that anywhere else become uncomfortable after a few hours. The same belt holds my keys and cell phone so that I have all of these items even if I am separated from my bike for some reason. I have found that a woven fabric belt holds up better to the constant sweat exposure than leather does.

For on-the-bike carry, a triangle frame pack could work, if fitted with a holster inside the pack (sew it in, etc.).



Otherwise depending on your bicycling attire, any normal concealment method could work. For me & everyone I ride with, we wear regular lycra cycling shorts and polyester cycling jerseys with rear pockets. You can fit just about anything in a jersey pocket including a full frame auto and a holster. But a poly/stainless compact auto would be an easy fit in a jersey pocket.

I still think a belly band riding high under the jersey is probably the best concealment method on a bicycle.

Bear in mind when you talk to cyclists (such as me), it is often assumed we are talking about normal cycling clothing (lycra shorts, bicycling jerseys). If by "riding a bicycle" you mean hop on a cruiser in your street clothes and just tool around the block or down to the mail box, well that's a whole different matter.

Don't forget the camelbak options - works for running and biking. Just not so well if you are doing road bikes - people think camelbak = mountain bike (and there is some logic to that.

I believe fenster uses his 5.11 holster shirt when riding his mountain bike. I really like mine, especially when I am doing active outdoor work. It's something you might consider.

Hey Venus. I didn't notice this one earlier. When I ride my mtn bike, I carry my G30 in a small tool bag that mounts under the seat. It would be pretty similar to the triangular shaped bag that mounts on the frame. It's not really hard to get to either from a sitting position on the bike. I wear Columbia out door packable type shorts, and a T-shirt, not actual biking gear, so I probably dress pretty similarly to Mars. Good luck. Hope the riding helps. Sounds like he's doing pretty well, though.

I use a fanny pack type holster or a belt holster depending on my attire. Either way I prefer to keep it on me in case I am separated from my bike (by choice or otherwise).

I carry my J frame when bike riding in a thumbbreak belt holster with my Tee shirt out. I have also carried my G19 or G23 this way.
