Car Gun Safe?
I work in a school. I cannot carry on campus but I can leave it in my car. My school does not have a "no weapons" policy but Texas law will keep me from carrying.
If I must leave my gun in my car, what do you recommend for storage. I would prefer something with a lock similar to:
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... ISO-8859-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But is there something smaller? This is just for my Glock 27 - in my car.
And I want something with a push button lock - no keys.
I really don't want to get this:
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... ISO-8859-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

center of mass safes. They are small perfect for one gun an extra mag. They come with a cable to lock it up with. http://www.center-of-mass.com/Store_InCarGunSafe.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Ditto on the center-of-mass safe. I've used one for years. They will even sell you multiples with the same key and, I just noticed on their website, they offer a combo locked version.
Re: Car Gun Safe?
I agree on the center of mass safes. I have 2 in my car. The one you have a link too would be hard to mount in most cars. R

I have 4 of the center mass safe's. I really like them. 1 for each vehicle and extras. They work well inside luggage when you are flying with handguns as well.

If I recall correctly, the CoM safe also passes TSA requirements.Luggo1 wrote:I have 4 of the center mass safe's. I really like them. 1 for each vehicle and extras. They work well inside luggage when you are flying with handguns as well.

I agree on the center-of-mass safe. I have one also, however, I just found out, too, that they have a combination lock now. I don't find the key being a problem...as long as I don't lose it...so the combination would eliminate that problem.

Another vote for the Center of Mass safes. I have the smaller model, which holds a Glock 19 and an extra mag.

Re: Car Gun Safe?
I just did a group buy for Center-of-Mass safes for our motorcycle club. Got $500+ of them
Nice little product, and good company to deal with.

Re: Car Gun Safe?
How strong are the cables on the com cases? I guess strong enough that a smash and grab thief would not jack with them?

What about these?
http://www.amazon.com/Stack-%C2%AE-Low- ... 35&sr=8-10" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.amazon.com/V-Line-Industries ... 56&sr=8-27" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have never used the COM safe - but I was looking for something that I could bolt under the driver seat - and access with one hand.
The above units don't use a key - and can be operated in the dark.
The new COM safe with the combination - still requires that you pick the safe up and look at it.
All cables can be cut with a simple pair of pliers. (http://www.amazon.com/Klein-Tools-D2000 ... 76&sr=8-12" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
I work in AV - and have had to cut security cables for clients who lost the keys. (cables that hold AV equipment)
I was amazed at how easy it is to cut security cable - even hardened or "aircraft" cable.
Thoughts?

Re: Car Gun Safe?
I was thinking of adding this one to my christmas list. I think it will fit in my center console.
