What is going on with this recent wave of gun violence in DFW. :headscratch
Makes me grateful to be able to legally carry; and kind of put situations into perspective, specially when it hits near home.
What could've possibly been the motive? gang related perhaps?

Stay safe & stay locked and loaded; you just NEVER know...

I am sure that nothing about this was drug related.

Here's the DMN article with a few more details:

Says it occurred in Denton County on Marsh Lane north of Frankford.

Ok, I take offense to this reply.

I have kicked out many customers for inappropriate language and for not having an I.D. showing d.o.b. and while some take it ok, some of the younger kiddos of today seem to hold a grudge and get really irritated and my guess on this shooting would be possible a couple of kiddos with a grudge against the employees or the store in general because of the strict policy that they have to follow to stay in business.

But like most things like this that happen, we will probably never know the true reason behind it.

"An 18-year-old Mount Vernon woman, Rabeca Rae Kemp, was killed. She did not work at the Gas Pipe, police said. She was inside the store with her boyfriend, who was not shot. Together, they were visiting a relative in the area. "
^^^^
That's sad; just normal folks, during the holidays visiting relatives, minding their business; unfortunately at the wrong place and definitely the wrong time.
There's a bit more information in the other article posted above. but it still remains unknown the motive of the shooting.

One can only wonder. :confused5

Yes I was wondering what's that comment supposed to mean?

Could you enlighten us and further elaborate?

Maybe:
<James> Caldwell, who was shot in the abdomen, had been working at the shop only about a week, said his son, Loren Caldwell.

Loren Caldwell said his father, who was released from a federal prison two years ago after serving about 18 years, has been saving money to self-publish a book about his life.

The book, titled Wrong Decisions, is about his years in the drug business, which culminated in his involvement in a 2-ton marijuana bust for which he received a 30-year prison sentence.

Watching the video, it sure LOOKED like retribution for SOMETHING the way they stepped in, fired off some rounds, and bolted. If this was an aborted robbery, they sure as heck turned chicken REALLY REALLY fast.

As fast as this happened, I doubt a concealed carry would have been able to do anything. Based on what I saw in the video. They think it took less than 3-5 seconds and they were gone.

I used to live about 10 minutes' drive from there. At the time, I didn't own any firearms because I didn't trust the apartments I'd just moved from. Oddly enough, I didn't even seriously consider the CHL until I moved back here where I'm less than a tenth as likely to ever need it.

As I recall, there were a couple of really scummy looking apartment complexes between our relatively nice complex and that neighborhood.

(Out of curiosity, I pulled it up in Google for directions: 8 minutes by car, 1hr56min by DART including 35 minutes walking to/from the routes and 33 minutes waiting for transfers, or 46 minutes walking the whole way...and people wonder why I hated DART - two hours of delays (not counting the fact that you have to schedule everything right to catch that first bus) to knock 11 minutes off of a 46 minute walk...and the return trip is only 50 minutes, still including the 35 minute walk.)
