I want to sell one of my handguns to my son (age 33).

Does this mean a trip to an FFL?

Sales tax collected by the FFL?

Thank you.

If your son is in Texas, nothing need be done. If he is out of state, you may have to go the FFL route.

If your son lives in the same city with you the you can just sell it to him without using a FFL. Just document the serial number and date that you sold it to him and have him sign it. If he's out of town then wait for him to come visit and sell it.

If he is in the same state you can ship directly to him.

Thank you, all.

Not only does he live in TX, but he lives in the same development.

We'll get this done tonight.

If he lived out of state, this would be incorrect.
At least one FFL will be required if the transfer crosses a state line.
