Range report

Another 50 error free rounds from my Taurus PT145 today. Shot at "defensive" ranges only, 20 rounds at 10 feet and 30 rounds at 15 feet. After 49 in the black bullseye, my stance got sloppy and I put round #50 on the white. :x
I'm left eye dominant, carrying on the right side. (Safety is impossible to operate when shooting with my left hand.) Any suggestions on why I'm still shooting to the left?
This makes 400 error free rounds in total from my pistol.

With a grouping like you are doing, it will be your front sight is off. Now, I failed a qualification once because of blowing out the bull’s-eye because if your bullet goes through the opening where the paper has disappeared, your round cannot be counted as a hit. What I do now is once I see the area getting cluttered, I move to a different part of the target. Nothing wrong with the Taurus brand.

AndyC wrote:No - 15 feet is only 5 yards. You should be putting all your rounds through a single hole at that distance if you were consistent - and since I doubt that the front sight is actually moving, it's either you or something else on the gun which is inconsistent.
Overall, your group-size is still pretty tight, so I'm going to guess that, while you're not as consistent as you could be, your trigger has some over-travel after the sear breaks and you're not used to it yet. I'm going to make a dangerous guess here and say that you're right-handed and that extra over-travel is causing you to ever-so-slightly push the muzzle left as the sear trips.
Thanks for the advice. I've got some snap caps and have been working on controlling breathing/trigger pull/proper grip.
I am right handed, left eye dominant.

I'm no expert, but I"ve always been told not to dry fire without snap caps.

I've got the same problem.
Going back to AndyC's comment...you've got me thinking I need to really work on my shot more. I can keep everything in a 3" to 4" group at 7 yards...I couldn't fathom being able to hit the same hole each time, even two yards closer...

Depends on the gun. some manufactures warn against it. Snap caps never hurt.
