Springfield 1911 magazines?

#1

Post by DONT TREAD ON ME »

I own a Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec (thought it was neat since I am in military). Its a great gun. I have no issues with it. However, it is my daily carry piece I would like to get 2 x 8rd magazines for it. Does anyone have any suggestions on brands that work well with the Mil-Spec?

Thanks for all your help! :patriot:

i'm gonna guess wilson etm's... they work great in my SA Loaded Champ...
the wilson 47d's take a little extra hard smack to get them to set in, in my case...
i'd bet with the mil-spec the 47s would be ok as well though...

Agree completely w/ Andy above.
The Chip Power Mags have worked great for me in all SA pistols. The Wilson 47Ds are excellent also. They have a little smaller base pad for conceal
The Tripp Research are excellent. Only available at the Tripp Web site I believe. I have used all 3 w/ no issues. If it were me I would start w/ the Chip Power Mags, 47Ds second, then Tripp.
My .02cents & some think it worth about half that.

For 45 I like Tripp mags:

or PSI:

(PSI-Act are sold under other names like Novak, I believe)

For 1911 9mm, I use Metalform:

I also have a SA 1911 mil-spec.
I read a thread a few days ago on another forum about this very topic.
Several knowledgeable people said SA mil-spec and GI versions often don't get along with Wilson 47Ds.
They recommended the stock Springfield mags, or military mags.
Chip McCormick Shooting Stars were also suggested.
