State Fair Experiance

#1

Post by shooter1911 »

As always I visited the Fair on Thursday (Senior Day) this year, and as usual I was interested to see how they handle CHL holders. Just like last year they asked my wife to open her purse for inspection as they ran the wand over her. Then the lady approached me with the wand and asked if I have any cell phones or keys in my pockets. Before I could answer I reached for my CHL as she ran the wand over my left side and then my right side. To my surprise she looked at me and said have a nice day at the fair, and we walked away. The weird thing is I was carrying a 1911 on my right hip, and in my left pocket I had a blackberry and an extra magazine fully loaded. It makes you wonder doesn't it.

I observed those operations during my recent visit to the fair also.

I call what went on there "security theater." The show is entertaining, but won't make any difference in real life.

I had a great deal of training on proper wanding while I was with TSA, and I can testify that the security people at the fair do not do it properly, universally.

It's kind of a quandary, isn't it? If someone were to teach them how to properly use them to keep BG out they would also be able to keep us GG out. Assuming they would then want to document our personal information and that we would not enter under those conditions.

My hope is the BGs back out as soon as they see the wands and DPD stand close by. I have been going to the State Fair for over 50 years, and I can tell you it is the cleanest and safest I have ever seen it. Nobody should worry about taking their family to the the Fair during State Fair days thanks to the DPD presents.

The fair is not the problem with BG's.

The problem is where you park and getting from there to the fair and back in one piece!

Parking is no problem anymore because you can park in the fair grounds right by the midway. I never park outside anymore. Things have really changed there.
