Cabela's discount

I happened to stop by the Cabela's in Buda this afternoon, looking for some supplies for my son to take to scout camp. Of course, I had to stop by the gun counter. I was looking at the Springfield XD(m) 45. They were asking 699, but then I got hit with some really good news. The salesman asked if I was a vet. When i answered yes, he told me that they had a "hometown Heroes" sale going on until tomorrow. Police, firefighters, EMS, and soldiers got a discount. And it includes any vet who brings in their DD 214 (or other proof of status). The discount is the employee's discount and is good on anything in the store. The amount varies, but ti worked out to 70 off the XD(M).
Now, where did I file that form?

I got the discount today at Cabela's in Ft. Worth. I had told my wife earlier that I read Lowe's and Home Depot gave vets 10% off. Well at the checkout she said, "Do you have a veteran's discount?" They said, yes we have a Hometown Heros discount." I said, "I'm not a hometown hero." They said, if you're a vet that's the same. Gave me the discount.

At my Home Depot our policy is to give a "military" discount to anyone who can document it, year 'round.
Generally just the word is enough.

Steve - Thanks for that info. I may have to go to back to Cabela's and buy something - maybe that G29 that I always wanted.

Every time I go to Cabela's all I have to do is show them my military ID and they knock 10% off the order. But......so far my purchases have been ammo, holsters, and t-shirts.
Buying the wife her first pistol tonight (Springfield XD9 3")....anyone know if their year-round discount applies to firearm purchases? Buying it tonight regardless, but always good to know before instead of being disappointed at the register!

Tomorrow is Veterans Day. I would assume that they would honor it then. However, as the old ad used to say, "let your fingers do the walking...." I am sure your local Cabela's has a phone number.

I took advantage of the veteran's discount yesterday at our Fort Worth Cabelas... nice discount on the Veridian green C5L light/laser that I've been wanting. Early Christmas preset to myself.
Thanks, Cabelas! And to Applebee's as well... they offered veteran's a free meal.

I don't have a clue where my DD214 is. I even tried filing for a replacement and they lost my request.
BTW, has anyone purchased a gun at Cabela's recently? What's with that new little form they require? They say the ATF requires it, but that it will probably never leave the store.

...don't know...what's it about??? haven't heard of a new form...
...I ordered a new copy of my 214 this summer...got it a month ago and also a copy of my discharge...which disappeared in 1978...I think I printed off an app and mailed it in...they told me not to inquire about it for something like 60 days...Uncle Sam don't get in a hurry, you know...

DAG NAB IT!! I've carried that 20 lb. box of paperwork around for 22 years, and missed the Cabela's deal.

I did not see a form number on it and did not get to keep a copy. Maybe Crossfire can shed some light on this.
Speedsix, could you PM me a link to where you ordered your DD214 from?

Thank you all for your service to our country and I believe all companies should offer discounts to servicemen and women as well as local PD/FD.
Thanks again.
