This thing is so simple yet works so good. It is almost as concealable as an IWB holster but much more comfy. Holds my 1911, Glocks, even my LCP! I would prefer a slightly smaller version for the LCP size guns but it does'nt move or slip out at all. This is even something you could make at home on the cheap. Plus it can be left on the belt when you are not carrying, lays flat and is hardly noticeable.
Just thought I would share.

I have one from Don Hume that is made like that. My only problem with that type is I have to really watch what pants I wear and what I might bump into because it has no protection for the slide. I wore a pair of pants with metal on the pockets and found rub marks on my Glock 21 slide. I was able to clean it and it looks fine but it has given me pause from using the holster much.

Came from a small knife store here in Burnet, the owner hand makes them. I'll stop in tomorrow and see if I can get him to make a few more. He also has a slightly smaller (shorter) version for smaller handguns.

Yeah, I can see where that might be a problem. I usually just wear jeans or shorts so I have no problem there. Besides, the only gun I don't want to scratch is my Kimber, the rest will just have to have wear marks.

do yourself a favor and get a real holster designed for the pistol you are going to carry...one size fits all just doesnt cut it....

(( I know, I know ... all my jeans and pocket shorts have tha' small metal stud on the seam, which causes some scratching... maybe I'll buy two, or add a small piece of leather patching to face on the back side ?! I'm just saying. ))
I like it, always have room for more leather type. holsters. Whats his price point ? ANY knifes that would compliment this simple little holster ??

3. The firearm is less protected from its environment. It's not just the little brass rivets on the jeans you have to worry about. What about seatbelt buckles? Furniture? Anything you happen to brush up against?....

Those are just the ones that come to mind off the top of my head. I could probably think of others. A belt slide can be useful as an expedient temporary holster, particularly if you are going to leave the weapon in your car and walk around with an empty holster. A belt slide is less suggestive of a holster to the casual viewer if your empty holster is seen by someone, and it is easy to conceal when it is empty because it doesn't stick down below the belt. But I don't really think it is the ideal solution for regular carry, and I wouldn't use a "generically" sized one.

He charges $25.00 ea. it's a little store in the Burnet town square across from the courthouse, just says KNIVES on the front. Guys name is Rufus.
I'll be in the neighborhood tomorrow, I'll stop in and see what he has. Don't now if he has a website, I tend to think not.

Interesting points to consider TAM, I hadn't thought of those. I haven't yet had a live session at the range from the holster, either. I assumed the gun wouldn't snag if it's OWB. My intention was to highlight that if it works, why worry? The things you listed may or may not apply depending on mode of dress and style of carry.

Edit to add: I just hesitate to always[/] take the advice others give out. While I'd say most of the time the advice is very helpful, sometimes it just doesn't apply to me in particular (or whoever it is directed towards). I'm still running strong with no gun belt with my 1911 and have encountered zero problems despite the "necessity" of a sturdy belt others have indicated.

Absolutely. Our needs do vary, and that's exactly the problem. Generic solutions will be a compromise for most people; whereas specific solutions tend to be the best suited to the individual. Unfortunately, it often requires some experimentation (which can be costly) to find that right solution.
