Anyone here every OC in New Mexico?
Obviously this is a CC forum, and obviously this is Texas, but I'm headed to NM for the Balloon Fiesta and was wondering if you were allowed to OC in that state even if you aren't a resident...

I'd check in @ the N.M. section of http://forum.opencarry.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

Re: Anyone here every OC in New Mexico?
It would leave the state open to some serious federal lawsuits if non residents could be charged with a crime where a resident couldn't. Something to do with that whole equal protection thing...
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

New Mexico is very pickey about guns in restaurants, especially Santa Fe, whether you have a permit or not.
Ooen carry would really cause a commotion.

You can open carry in New Mexico just like New Mexicans can car carry in Texas.
New Mexico has some rather restrictive laws though when it comes to open carry and alcohol that you will need to learn up on.

Re: Anyone here every OC in New Mexico?
On May 1st we stopped at Raton, NM for a road trip layover while in route to CO. The clerk at the Motel 6 didn’t even glance at my holster. We walked around the town a bit and I was OC’ing. No one seemed to notice but I didn’t see anyone else OC’ing so I secured my weapon in the car safe. OC felt rather uncomfortable at the time but that was just a personal thing.

Not in New Mexico, but I carried openly in Arizona with no issues.

Yes, both in NM and AZ multiple times. No problems.

Will probably feel it out when I get there, but I have done quite a bit of reading up on the alcohol situations. Will not carry on any private property where alcohol may be...

Re: Anyone here every OC in New Mexico?
I was stationed in the USAF out in Clovis NM for a while and i did not see OC all that much except out in rural less populated areas.
I only OC's if we was heading out to go shooting. Now Arizona...I was in Tucson and saw OC very often even guys walking down the sidewalks
on Speedway Blvd downtown...seemed more common in Az.
