Gun show this weekend - Allen Event Center 10/30 & 10/31
Is anyone going to this weekend's show in Allen or was the last one too painful to try it again?

Re: Gun show this weekend - Allen Event Center 10/30 & 10/31
I went just to check it out and see some of my friends. Jeff Schramm (SAWS), JG&G (not sure of their name) and Gun Zone were there along with several small vendors. Not a big show and it was very empty at 9am but by the time I left a 1pm it was getting crowded. I only went because I had a couple of guns to trade. I normally sell my guns myself in person or on GunBroker but these particular ones I had as trade fodder.
Watched the Hunting Dog demonstration with "Bear", the bird dog/pointer (put on by Big Billy/Kinder Outdoors). It was great entertainment and I don't even hunt birds.
Wasn't looking for anything in particular, just wanted to buy something so I ended up with:
(1) S&W 351 PD .22mag - I had one of these a few years ago and sort of missed it.
(2) Galco Scout IWB holster for the S&W 351 PD
(3) Browning Buckmark Bullseye Target 7 1/2" Barrel - am toying with the idea of joining a .22 pistol league so I thought this gun may come in handy. Of course I liked the way it looked (I'm a "bling" kind of person).
(4) New ambi grips for the Buckmark
(5) a brick/500 rounds of .22 Win Mag ammo
(6) a box Winchester Supreme . 22 Win Mag ammo
(7) new .223 bore snake and some misc bore brushes, Hoppe's Silicone Cloth, etc
(8) A-Zooms in various sizes
(9) Galco push up IWB holster for my Beretta Bobcat 21a
(10) 5 extra Buckmark mags
(11) Browning Rifle Sock for my Winchester 9410 Lever Action Rifle
(12) Some new ear plugs (the kind they inject in your ears for a custom fit) - I had an old worn out pair and liked them. My regular ear muffs don't work as well as I like because they don't seal tight going over the stems of my glasses.
And to think I only went to "maybe" purchase one gun!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I could get all of that stuff cheaper online but I do like to support some of my favorite local vendors once in awhile. Of all things I meant to get were a couple of boxes of 357mag and .38 special and I forgot to buy that!!!!!
I'm going to skip the Frisco show and hit Dallas Market Hall after Thanksgiving.
Buckmark with new grips
Buckmark with original grips that came with the gun (for right handed shooter)
S&W 351 PD with Galco Holster Scout Holster (left handed)
Beretta Bobcat in new Galco Holster (right handed)

We're going tomorrow to look at Concealment Purses for myself. I just purchased a 24/7 Pro Compact today as my first firearm from BT and a holster at CTD, but need a purse as well.

Re: Gun show this weekend - Allen Event Center 10/30 & 10/31
I went today and there were less vendors than last time it seemed and definitely a smaller crowd. The price for admission was dropped $1 from $10 to $9 compared to the last show and there weren't many deals to be found. Almost everything was retail price, minimum. I saw several Taurus 709 slims going for upwards of $459, sad when you can go to Academy and pick one up for $389. The crowd flow control was setup better this time than last time so there's been progress as to how the event is handled but with no deals to be had, is there a point in going? I keep hoping it will get better, the first show was a mess and they did fix some things to make it work much better but the vendors need to make people want to go to keep the show alive. If they can't, I don't see the show lasting long, sadly.

Well, basically went, yes the way they had arranged things at the Allen Event Center was a little better. Far less vendors, prices not encouraging or inviting so won't go back at this point!

Re: Gun show this weekend - Allen Event Center 10/30 & 10/31
Well A buddy and I went - It was a smaller show but a number of the bigger vendors were there Including SAW and AJC
I typically shop for hard to find accessories or Auto Pistols .
Ive NEVER seen prices for either anywhere close at retail or gunbroker
Gunbroker is chock full of people selling for over MSRP
Im looking for an XDM 45 - with Night sights - saw 4 or more XDM 45s which Ive been unable to find at ANY retail location. ( none with the night sights ) The best price I saw was $543 -
In searching Gunbroker NO completed sales were that low and you would have to pay shipping and FFL on top of that ...
I cant stand Academy for Guns - you cant see or touch the guns with out dealing with a sales person ( typically clueless ) and the selection and prices are no where near as good ...
It cost me $9 - My buddy bought a Ruger and we had $9 worth of entertainment ..
My $0.02

first time there. went with my father in law. it was ok, kinda small. was told i could not bring in my bottled water, threw it in the trash after i had one more sip then the other lady standing there tells the first "oh, we have been letting people bring water in" so that kinda didnt sit well. almost bought a nice stock for my bull barrel 10/22, but alas came home with nothing.
god bless.
