The Mini's groups will dance around the AR15's groups all day. For $200 more, you get MUCH more rifle out of the AR15.
You really can't go wrong when it comes to choosing brands in the AR15 industry. There's the best, and then there's everyone else.
There are only 2 brands that I would avoid and those are Olympic and, ironically, Armalite. - this is just my personal opinion.
Top Tier Brands:
Colt
Bravo Company Manufacturing (BCM)
Fabrique National (FN)
Noveske
Lewis Machine & Tool (LMT)
My first AR15 was a Stag - it worked very well. My latest AR is a BCM! Prices should be very competitive right now. There is a huge supply due to the over manufacturing during the Obama scare.
I would suggest you check the Firearms section of this forum or check http://www.texasguntrader.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for some excellent deals on slightly used rifles.

I got one of these from CMMG and have been very happy with it:
http://cmmginc.secure-mall.com/item/W.A ... ch-M4-1402" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's about the best deal out there and even though it's called "bargain bin," mine looked like it was new out of the box. Just need to add a rear sight and a magazine or two. Search online and nobody has anything but good things to say about this deal.

If you're in the Central Texas area try this:
http://www.gtdist.com/ProductDetail.asp ... =SW-311003" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The shooter chart/target in post #2 pretty much says it all. That's funny.

*All information is what I've read and heard from others*Why avoid armalte ....other then prices?
Armalite apparently had some quality control issues in their AR15's. Many owners reported major accuracy and cycling issues. This included their AR10's. New production would probably be okay.
Here is an online spreadsheet that users have put together that review most of a rifle's standard features by Brand.

^This is why I buy BCM.
