What's the Origin of Your User Name?

There are some very interesting names on this board. All of them with a story behind them I'm sure. I thought it would be interesting to see where all of these user names came from. I have recieved several inquiries about my user name. It is pronounced with a southern drawl as one word Big Ol Big Un. As in a big dude. I was called that by a rancher one time, and it cracked my friends up and it just kind of stuck with me. I look forward to reading the orgin or meaning behind all of your user names.

Seamus is the Irish Gaelic version of James, which is my given name. My father used to call me Seamus. I just added the TX to make it unique (it's actually a very common name).

For anyone who doesn't know, it's pronounced SHAY muss.

Mine is simple. It's like calling the biggest kid in the school Tiny.

Mine is pretty obvious.

My middle name is Ben, after my maternal grandfather. Kevin is a variant of John, which was my father's name. John is a very common name in my line of ancestors:

I'm in the 9th generation of that tree.

My youngest son is John David, after both grandfathers.

I am not sure where "jbirds" came from.....it was a screen name that my mother used about ten years ago with my birthdate at the end. I changed the birthdate to a good friends and stuck with the jbirds....it was my original screen name the first time I ever signed on to the internet.

For me, just a hobby (knapping flint arrowheads, knives, spears, etc..)

Actually, I use flint, obsidian, chert, jasper, novaculite, agate, etc..... but that would make a really long name.

Yeah, I know...........kinda weird. :???:

Mine originates from amateur radio. wo5m is the callsign that was issued by the FCC. I use it on just about every public forum. Also I’m not the only radio operator on here. I know of at least one other there may be more.

If you where to google my callsign you would find out more about me than googling my name.

I've been using mine for about 10 years on Usenet, and been Blogging under this pseudonym for about 3. The name describes my political viewpoint and my fascination with what folks have done to achieve and keep it.

When I earned my doctorate in Organizational Psychology, I realized that I was operating under a "new(er) paradigm" than the one to which I had been accustomed in the past.

I live in Houston (actually Katy but outside Texas nobody's heard of Katy). I was born during WWII, 1944. When I joined my first forum, the 1911 forum, that was all I could think of.

When I was an apprentice electrician, thirty odd years ago, my foreman started calling me "MoJo" and it stuck. It is short for my name Morris Jones.
