Will I raise flags?

#1

Post by pbwalker »

I found a killer deal on a 5 pack of AR lower receivers. I know there are some rules around handguns and frequency (5 days IIRC) but will buying 5 lowers raise any alarms over at that "alphabet agency"? I don't even want to deal with it if it does...

The FFL will be required to send a multiple purchase form to the ATF and local law enforcement. I doubt they get anything more than a glance as they are filed...

The real question is what kind of deal are you getting on those lowers and how much are you going to charge your new best friend (me) for one of them? :biggrinjester:

Unless there has been a recent change, there are no additional forms required. These are classified as recievers, the multiple purchase form is for pistols and revolvers only.

You will raise 4 flags and to make you feel at peace and you would not have to worry about the whole deal. Buy them and them ship them to me as a Gift, via an FFL no less. :biggrinjester:

But again, seriously, do what your FFL tells you to do and you will be fine.

Just be sure they're listed on the 4473s simply as "receivers" rather than "rifle receivers" . . . that way you have the option of building them up as pistols. (Though I personally have no desire for an AR-based pistol . . . today.)
Original CHL: 2000: 56 day turnaround
1st renewal, 2004: 34 days
2nd renewal, 2008: 81 days
3rd renewal, 2013: 12 days

A young lady at a sporting goods store once asked me if it was dangerous to have so many bullets in my house at the same time. I bought 4 boxes of .308Win on sale. She was pretty cute, so I didn't say anything.

No ma'am. I store them in a very safe manner. Would you like to come over to see how?

There was that deal back in 2009 though where BATF was confiscating guns when there were multiple purchases in some neighborhoods of Houston though, anyone remember the details on that deal??

I thought this would be a thread about Panchos and raising a flag for more food :)

As far as raising any flags, I think you should be okay with your purchase.

That sounds like a question my wife would ask. She thought the light always stayed on in the refrigerator. LOL! You should have told her "No more dangerous than having all those bullets in this store" ;-)
